Boyd allegedly gone ! Who will replace him?

Sky Sports are reporting that Boyd has signed a three year contract with Eskisehirspor in Turkey.
Assuming Mobray will now be given the okay to bring in another Striker, who would you like to see come and why?
I personally would like to see a big, strong, old fashioned type centre forward brought in, someone to create chances in and around the box for Mcdonald or Lita (If he stays) and players following up play from midfield.
We have not had a player of that type for a long while now (Forget Brian Deane, Mido and Michael Ricketts, they were very costly jokes. We tried our luck with Billy Ashcroft, Trevor Senior and Archie Stevens with mixed results but, Oh for a Hugh Mcylmoyle or John O'rourke !!!
There doesn't seem to be many of that type of player around now, should we perhaps take a punt at the likes of Rob Hulse or Steve Howard to do a job just for this season or does anyone know a better longer term option that will be in our price range?
I look forward to your suggestions.

Kris Boyd is a trumpet. he could've been playing champions league with us but followed the money

I've seen him get hooked after 25mins because it was too hot in ABERDEEN...good luck in Turkey Kris...ya turncoat!

Roman Bednar would be worth a punt if he can get anywhere near the form he had previously under Mowbray at WBA, whilst they were in the Championship

The trouble is our price range is either free or on loan at the minute so I dont really see us having many options unless I win the euro millions tonight and sub them a few quid!

I think Lita will be away before long and he would command a fee so we might have a bit more room to deal then. With the players we have, who we might still have come the season, id start with McDonald up top with Emnes and Luke Williams off him. Three in midfield with Bailey, Robson and Smallwood (Thomson when fit) and a back four of McMahan, Bennett, McManus and Rhys Williams. Or possibly Williams in midfield with Bates at the back. The forwards are not the tallest but Emnes is not bad in the air and I'd rather have decent footballers in the team than some waste of space up their, simply because he's 6'4.

yeah we need a big striker just to give us another option and allow us to play different ways against different teams like mowbray likes us to. can't think of any really. we should have got holt years ago when he was in league 2. maybe parkin, helguson or ageymang?

I don't think we'll be looking to 'replace' Boyd as such. If you recall, we did much better from the minute he went to Forest. I think it would take another departure of a striker such as Lita to trigger getting a 'replacement'.

Other areas of the team are probably more a priority. We are going to be weak on the left hand side with Taylor having gone, Arca likely to go elsewhere and Thomson injured. We could do with cover for left back and a good attacking left sided midfielder. Someone like Zenden, but I think he's probably just too old, as he will soon be 35.
