Hi there all!
Just noticed on the beeb that we have signed Joel Ward from Pompey for 400k. What are your thoughts on this? I know nothing about this player, is he a suitable replacement for Clyne?
Obviously what really need is a striker who can bang in at least 12 goals in a season at this level, which is what we are sadly missing. Palace have always done well (unsurprisingly) when we have had this sort of player on the books (be it Wright, Armstrong, Johnson, Morrison, etc). While we have youngsters with plenty of potential, we do not have a reliable and experienced striker who pops up with a goal week in, week out.
Of course Murray was supposed to be "that" player, but ultimately he has had a disappointing season, probably because Freedman's formation does not give him the requisite support.
Who should be our targets for a striker? Should we change our formation to suit Murray?
Discuss!

I've heard he's good and can play a few positions. This is quite an interesting read...

I like the comparison with Phil Jones!
I'm sure a few of you will disagree but I think we should play Zaha upfront next season. Maybe alongside Murray. We already have Scannell, Moxey, Parr, Ambrose, Williams as wide attacking midfielders. Zaha did get a few goals last season and I think he can be a good striker.
Does anyone know anything about Pedroza? He looked pretty speedy against Cardiff. Maybe another AJ were we just send long balls up to him!

I think Joel Ward is a very accomplished performer, more than an adequate replacement for Clyne.

He seems ideal for a 352 formation (Moxey, Paddy, Ward) but I would see him as a right back Matt Lawrence type of player (only younger and quicker). Great signing by Doog.
