Gervinho

quote from arsenal.com regarding the asia tour squad

"The imminent signing of Lille striker Gervinho has not been completed in time for him to join the party."

even the official website is now dabbling in the transfer gossip it seems

Not really "dabbling in the transfer gossip", more that they're stating the signing of the player...

I guess that pretty much confirms the signing. Dam you forehead for delaying the signing this much.

to be honest, even if it is ever confimed, this signing doesn't exactly inspire me, I mean, to me he just looks like a shorter, older version of what was Adebayor when he came to us. Admittedly he has a lot more skill, than Ade ever did, but he is once again unproven at the highest level (never even seen a single substitute appearance in europe) and with RVP fit (for the moment) and arshavin starting to show glimmers again at the end of last season, I can only see him as a substitute player. Up to him to prove me wrong I suppose. Bloody hope he does.

quite frankly, ryo excites me much more.

and in that statement you have contradictied yourself entirely, you say gervinho doesnt excite you as you say he hasnt proven himself at the highest level. So what has ryo done then?

Gervinho will be 1st choice left sided player, he will set the premier league alight and will be considered as one of the bargains of the season.

Are there any plans in place to take him, Sagna, Song and Chamakh to the same barber Fabregas was taken to back when he looked like Teen Wolf?

I have not contradicted myself at all. Ryo has done nothing at the highest level at all, but to say that his young talent excites me more than another older, shorter player who has not played at the highest level is hardly a contradiction. An untested player can excite me, it's just that Gervinho Doesn't.

I sincerely hope so.

Like I said, I really hope he can prove me wrong, but just wondering, with Arsene taking ryo off to the asia tour, with lansbury, eastmond, nasri, arshavin, dare I say henderson (atm) in the team, do you think gervinho will be given a chance?
