I watched the game tonight and thought England were average at best. In fact it reminded me of the Rovers last season but a bit better. Anyway, to the point. I was watching the match in the pub and it was well attenended, but at the end of the game every one seemed to say not the best game game but lets look at the positives. I said what, lets be honest they were ****.
To which I was out numbered by people saying, yes but this, but that, did you not see.
Steve Kean seems to have brain washed almost all football, telly watching people.
A million And One Steve Keans.

Pretty much agree with the OP. The way England scored and then immediately retreated to defending inside our own penalty area was very reminiscent of Rovers under Kean. In contrast after France scored they then enjoyed their best period of the game.
There does seem a bit of Keanism about the fans reaction. The stats read:
Shots on target: France 7 England 1
Possession: France 65% England 35%
Corners: France 11 England 4
Lets be honest indeed, we were convincingly second best. And its pretty much luck as to why the scoreline didn't reflect that.

The difference is Rovers' "defensive unit" often crumbled and let lots past. France were restricted to mainly long range efforts which for the most part were comfortably dealt with by Hart. I wouldn't read too much into the stats, as I feel that france did a lot of passing but not a lot else.
It is a decent result to take against a team unbeaten in 22, and definitely the strongest team in the group imo. Let's see how they do against Sweden on Friday.

As the Oracle would say - we were competitive.
Actually I did not even watch the game so why am I commenting. I might be turning into a Kean clone!

Disagree with the OP - England were unimaginative but organised. Last season Rover were disorganised and Steve Mean was imaginative - like a monkey on lsd!
