but is a lot of the criticism towards Hendersdon & particulary Kelly's inclusion to the England squad often based on the fact they are LFC players?
Lets look at the facts:
Henderson - Captain of the U-21s. Played at a high level for a long time. Had a poor season, but then again, didn't some of the others in the squad?
Kelly - Played half a season for LFC at right back last year, has always looked strong and positive in defence. I remember performances against Chelsea & Man Utd standing out, amongst others.
And, most importantly, would fuss be made is Chris Smalling was picked instead? People are winging that we need to bring the youth through, then complain when we do!! If Smalling had been picked ahead of Kelly, I firmly believe there would be no criticism towards the decision, simply because of the team he plays for.
This is up for discussion.
I might be wrong...

Ironically it was your sister who gave me the rash hence the username.
The bowl is full now thanks to the eu I'd give you some but you'd only end up loosing money on the exchange rate, we do what we can down south for our northern brethren.

What's wrong with Shelvey? He's not scared to play the ball forward and gets himself in to good positions and works hard. He's only 19/20.
People seem to think he's rubbish because he looks ridiculous for his age!

Pea. We have no chance to win even with our best players.
Taking the next generation players will only improve our future chances - like Germany in 2010.

I've lost count of how many times I've heard people say just focus on future tournaments. If we always do that of of course we never win the current one.
I also don't accept a country like England should go into any tournament not trying to win it with their best players. If we don't then what's the point. Maybe if that's the view don't take any senior players. Plus it's not like Kelly is some youth genius like Ronaldo was for Brazil, and guaranteed to be at future tournaments. For all we know he may not even get picked for the next one, let's face it he wasn't even picked for this injury hit one to start with, and players like Smalling should be around next time, and hopefully Richards.
The fact Hodgson is in charge is the biggest factor against the likelihood of us winning the next few tournaments IMO given the way he plays, and using your 'plan for the future now' logic then why pick a grey old defensive minded manager that is obsessed with 442, instead of a young innovative manager who can build up his experience now while as you say we have no chance. At least we could bed in a more modern playing style and formation like countries such as Germany use.

Ps Germany didn't leave their best players at home in 2010, their best ones were young, as they'd come out of a period of being poor by Germany's standard and restructured their football which resulted in the current more techical attacking crop. We won't do the same with old fashioned defensive 442 Hodgson leading the way.
