According to reports in the Belgian media, Januzaj will be included in the summer tour squad. He only turned 17 in February and managed 11 games (I think) last year due to injury.
However, many at the club were very impressed with him and felt the United Youth Cup team missed him against Chelsea. Is this a reaction to Pogba leaving? Fergie realising he has to give these talented kids a chance or they'll be off?
Also, the European U19 Championships is on in the summer which would porobably rule out the likes of Larnell Cole and Michael Keane form the tour.
Adnan Januzaj

It was only announced officially today that we have 2 games in South Africa, 1 in Shanghai and 1 in Norway.

This would have nothing to do with the other OTT reported cases which have little in common anyway.
IF this is true it will just be that SAF sees him as an exceptional youngster which he does look like, along with Daehli. Been a bit excited about Adnan since he arrived, so really hope he meets the naturally OTT hype.

There are better players in the youth team from what I have seen. Any other youngsters included in the squad?
_______________
Not so sure about that. Maybe Daehli who is very talented but I was very impressed from what I saw of Januzaj. I've heard great things about Perreira but have yet to see him play.
(The squad has not been announced, just this information leaked in Belgium.)

Barmby looks the best player from this years youth team imo, but his gave has a lot to develope, Pearson is also a very good player.
Don't get me wrong Januzaj, is one of the better players, just at him though, you think Fergy is going to be throwing him into PL games this season? He looks about 12.

Busby - Don’t think people think he will be getting PL game time but for a player that young the tour is a good opportunity to train with the first team and get minutes in friendly/pre-season games
I think Norway and South Africa etc will all be at the middle/end of their seasons so should be a decent test

Just making the point, I remember people going mad in the past because the likes of Pogba and Tosic went on tour, look what happened there.

Did Petrucci and Pogba go on tour?
Can’t be certain but I think last Summer pogba was competing in a tournament for France and Pettrucci was injured?
The only young player I remember definetly going was the goalkeeper – Sam Johnstone who got a half or two

OTT reported cases
Sorry Pea – what does this refer to?

Maybe not as clear as I intended without going on for ages...
The OP was referring to giving Adnan a chance as a reaction by SAF to stop talented youngsters deciding they'll be off without it, when the number of cases that this potentially refers to is tiny, compared to the number of players in our youth/reserve teams in recent years i.e. focussing on one small minority and the downfall of our youth system because of them is massively OTT.
In terms of whether players deciding they'll be off is even an issue, I was also referring to specific cases that get talked about loads in relation to this so called problem such as Morrison, who actually left because the club didnt want to give him a new contract for very obvious correct reasons relating to his attitude towards training, the coaching staff, community issues etc etc. It had nothing to do with him not getting enough first team opportunities.
He actually wanted to stay and he said himself, but irrespective of talent, he simply couldnt be given a senior contract and promoted to the first team without sending a terrible message to all our youngsters, and without breaking the disciplined professional ethos of the club SAF has established since his arrival, when shall we say some players were a little big for their boots, and weren't exactly totally professional. Of course as a consequence of this slack attitude we werent realising our potential.
Pogba is another always referred to, but I dont see how anyone can suggest his agent has persuaded him to join Juve for more playing time. It's nonsense. He's looking like leaving because his agent is getting a massive multimillion pound bonus for delivering him, as he did for an Ajax youngster to Juve in Jan, and Pogba is getting a big contract as well. However, he will clearly be further away from the Juve first team than United's, given he has no experience of the league, the country, his team mates, who have just gone unbeaten this season to win the league as already have lots of talented CMs. On top they are looking to buy more senior CMs such as Asamoah. Conte has also already said he wants to assess Pogba when he joins to see if he should be loaned out, put in the reserves to acclimatise, or train with the first team. None of this suggests he's got any assurances about first team football, which he was already tasting with United, and he was very close to breaking through more regularly, especially with the limited resources ahead of him.
Finally that leaves Fryers as the only other high profile case who's off for the 'playing time reason'. We dont know much about this situation, but I find it hard to even care it. Plus he hasnt even left yet. People always over hype our youngsters, and even if he does turn out as a really good player, he can't expect to be playing regularly in the United defence at his age. He should be patient like Cleverley, Welbeck, Evans etc etc or leave to play weekly league football.
United is one of the best 'elite' clubs in the world for playing young players, and to suggest they dont get chances is bizarre to me, but either way it would be stranger if there were no young players leaving the club at all to seek new opportunities. Even Barcelona have young players who leave the club to try and break through elsewhere, and they have an official B team playing league football as well unlike us, but does anyone talk about their youth policy being in trouble or the manager needing to give people more chances to stop all their young talent leaving.
Basically many go OTT about the whole issue. Anyway that's the extended version of what those few words meant

ah right gotcha !
Yeah I don’t think Janusaj can be put in the same boat as Pogba or Morrison as there are not (at least not that we know) the same issues surrounding his attitude plus I don’t think he or anyone expects him to push for a first team place.
I can’t see SAF pandering to a 17 yr old demanding first team football and saying “ok ok – we’ll take you on tour, please just don’t leave us!”
Like I’ve said I think its more of a case that a position has opened up with the injury to Will Keane so SAF has drafted him in – does anyone have a link to the squad? I assume players like Lindegard and Petrucci will still be going?
posted on 13/6/12
Yeah the cases not the same at all. I expect Petrucci will go, but ive not seen any lists.
