A slight pang of horror was watching the day 4 practice match from Portugal.
Although both sets of players looked quite lethal going forwards, I thought the defences looked completely unable to cope.
We need at least 2 more defenders, and good ones at that.
Otherwise we may find ourselves playing catch-up again. Only this time without Caulker.
If we are to mount a serious challenge we will have to be extremely hard to beat from the first whistle.
Personally I think West Ham and Brum will be the strongest, with Leicester, Ipswich, Leeds, Cardiff and ourselves fighting it out for the seats to Wembley. And there is always the dark horse, as Norwich proved last season, who come up from Div 1 with all guns blazing. This time I feel the top 8 are too strong for any of the Div 1 sides to make much impression (famous last words).
1 West Ham
2 Birmingham
3 Bristol City
4 Cardiff
5 Leicester
6 Ipswich
Here's to a magical season, and a roller coaster ride to remember...

If Ribs can stay fit, and he did say in his interview this is the first time he's felt fully fit for years, then between him Wilson, Nyatanga, Fonts and Carey with Edwards in the wings the defence looks reasonable except for the LB position, sure a commanding CB in the John Terry mold(without the off pitch goings on) would be great but they are few and far between.
However I have always prefered my CB to be capable ball players as well ala Collier, Hanson and Lawrenson but good ones are as rare as rocking horse droppings, Might this Harry Worley be the answer answers on a postcard to BCFC c/o Mr Millen.
