Stevenage Sign Myrie-Williams

Stevenage have captured the signature of exciting 23-year old winger Jennison Myrie-Williams on a free transfer from St Johnston.

I saw Graham Westley speaking to a player I didn't recognise as I came out of the Shephallbury Football Academy on Thursday night, so I'd been eagerly awaiting news of who the new signing was.

Great news then that we have managed to capture and attacking adventurous left winger which is exactly the position we needed to fill most of all.

Bristol City fan in peace.
JMW needs to learn to get his head up when he is trying to cross the ball when he plays wide has plenty of pace but seems to go blank once he's managed to get past his player and loses the ball.
At one time we thought he was destined for great things but he just didn't want to learn.
All the best for the new season would like to see you in the championship or even higher one day as Iyour ground is one of the few I've never been to yet.

JMW played the best part of an hour against a Fulham XI on Sunday, he was solid if mostly unspectacular but there were glimpses of excellence on offer.

He clearly has a lot of pace and a good first touch. He took an excellent free-kick at goal from the right edge of the box, a direct threat we were lacking for a lot of last season. He has a few tricks in his locker, one particularly nice 360 spin turn to get him out of the clutches of 2 defenders was a lovely touch. He also put a pleasing amount of work in when Fulham had the ball.

As you say it's the final ball and end product that needs work. It did seem at times like he wanted to beat the man again once he'd got to the by-line before getting the cross in. I think having the skills to put you in the position is most important, the more times you get there and give yourself the chance to make the decision the more you learn what is right and wrong for the given situations. You're bound to have a weakness signing a player on a free at this level and his is in the least bad place.
