Why has this not gone to GD?

Communism has never been achieved in modern times on a noticeable scale. It's a shame Lenin died so young (53), I imagine the world would have had a lot less murder in it.

Oh well. Never mind. It was a good laugh murdering all those toffs anyway.

Wow, you really lack empathy for a people who were desperate. Royal regimes always tend to end in bloodshed. You seem to care more for the rich few than for the poor many.

And AuHasard, looking now.

Haha just reading about it I've got a feeling about the Bilderberg Group. One of disgust, mistrust and hatred. It's an ugly emotion but one, I suspect, would be justified were I to attend one of their meetings. Such immediately strong feelings are usually proved correct.

i can understand, and sympathise with, people who - in a state of true desperation - are driven by their survival instincts to do what they rationally think they have to do in order to protect themself and their loves ones.

my sympathy and understanding goes no furher than that, either in terms of the people to whom it extends, nor in terms of the extent of the actions which those need to undertake to satisfy their instinct for survival.

tp be honest ranneram, i dont know much about it. i believd though that there can be no justification for the actions that were taken.

a violent and murderous rebellion against a truly evil man and regime could easily be justified, but these people were not evil, they were just powerless to undertake the impossible task which elements of their society appeared to expect of them.

One must consider the royal family in Russia before the revolution were vastly different yo our royal family today. Are the revolutions in the middle east unjustified?

If I understand what you are saying GG, then I agree with you.

It is a very dangerous thing to do imo, to judge people from different periods of history, by using morals standards and social equivelants from today. People should generally be judged by the standards of their own time, not by the standards of our time.

Im not sure that I quite udnerstand the link to the recent actions in north africa and the middle east. I will say though that I am amazed at a lot of these events, particular america's foreign policy which strikes me as incomprehensible at times.
