Sorry, but I completely disagree. Spain are quite capeable of upping their game and with England unable to keep decent possession in my view, if they play well, they could steamroller England.

Italy are a good team, but individually and collectively I see less threats from them and therefore see them as the more suitable opponents.

Whilst I think every team needs a bit of luck, the media have created this myth that England have always been unlucky in major tournaments.

1) In Italia 90, the second round match against Belgium, I think they hit the woodwork 4 times before David Platt scored tha

2) In Euro 96, first match versus Swtizerland, Shearer scored the first goal (ending his drought) when he was clearly offside. Shearer ended up getting the golden boot in that tournament.

3) In Euro 96 Semi-finals, Germany scored a perfectly good goal in extra-time which would've been a golden goal, but this also went England's way.

4) In World Cup 98, Michael Owen clearly dived to win a penalty. It was one of the worst dives I've ever seen from one of my favourite players. England got the decision.

5) In World Cup 2002, players from England were diving all over the place and getting away with it. Beckham, Sheringham, Owen. Again England 'won' a penalty against Argentina and won that game.

6) In World Cup 2006, when England were struggling against Trinidad & Tobago, Peter Crouch scored by holding an opposition players ponytail.

I'm sure I've missed some, but England have got plenty of decisions and luck in past tournaments. They are just not given as much coverage by our media.

Italy they have done well. Spain topped the group ahead of them though.

I understand that that the styles may clash, but I still see Italy as being easier to beat for England because at least they may have the ball at some points. Italy will always be top opponents, and I see them as slight favourites, but the depth of the Spanish squad is frightening, even if they haven't been at their best thus far in the tournament.

If Spain continue to play no strikers, they may live to regret it.

Italy score off set pieces and have a sound defence. Sound familiar?

We'll be okay against them I think.
