Ditto : Sean Scannell

Off to Huddersfield !!

Well I guess if it's just interest it could be rumours or who knows?

But when was the last time we made a 'big-money' signing that was worth the transfer fee?

I think McCormack would definitely be worth the fee. Proven at this level and always seems to score against us so it'd be a massive coup if we could get him. Perhaps the goal scorer we've been looking for?

McCormack would be decent, especially at Championship level

I saw on FYP he scored 19 goals last season. Plus if he always scores against us we'll be helping our defence by buying him! They said £1m has been agreed and sorting out personal terms so should be interesting

A bit of an over reaction there Paul! It's not like we've sold a player that's started most games last season.

*That maybe true, but just because Scans didn’t start every game, shouldn’t mean we should sell! We’ve got a fairly decent size squad. We didn’t use Ambrose, Murray or Garvan in a lot of games so, should we sell them as well? :S

I already mentioned to Paul on Facebook that it's the fact we need to bring in another squad player.

*By the way, there’s nothing wrong with just being a squad player, how many Premiership players are consistently in the starting line up week in, week out? I know when you become a footballer; you should play as much as you can, but that being said; what happens when We get injuries & suspensions? And like I said on Facebook, what’s the point in letting a player go, then trying to find his replacement? IF a recognized Prem Club came calling I’d kind of understand, but feeding a Club, we are going to face this season??? Plus, why did we sell, when we're financially ok :S

As far as South London & Proud how many other youth players have come through?

*I’m grateful We have an Academy! Years gone by, we’ve had Southgate, Shaw, Salako, Morrison etc...recently, Watson & Moses, who should have went to a higher placed Club IMO! Soares disappeared & Routledge has finally found his feet.
However, in Scanz case, IF we have the funds, why sell? Is the point of the Academy to develop (wouldn’t mind seeing XI first teamers of Academy players at somepoint– that would be something to be South London & Proud about), or is the point of the Academy to make profit (well, I’m hoping we’ve made a profit out of the Scannell deal).

I don't know know if you were at the Fans Forum - *Did think about it, was round 11 May?? My Mate went.
At the time, just wondering if they’re saying anything unanticipated? Just expecting the usual ‘been a tough season, done well with what we’ve got & compared to the last 2-seasons. Done very well in the Beer (Carling) Cup, looking to improve etc’. WHICH, is nothing to be ungrateful about, (unlike some ppl who blast the team on the boards) but I guess I’m just hoping NEWS like Clyne has signed something like a 2-yr deal!
I also hoped someone questioned the New Kits. I mean, we used to at least vote on the 2-best. Don’t the Owners have any influence on the kits? Or do Nike do as they please? I mean, why Yellow again? Why not Black or White!!

Martin(loanee) to basicly replace the former. - *Nothing against this defender from Southampton, but a little puzzled why we’re not using Our own academy player?

But when was the last time we made a 'big-money' signing that was worth the transfer fee?
*Wasn’t Leon Cort - £1.25m? Became POTY in 2007!
Claude Davis may have been a similar fee.

However, after the likes of Michele Padovano, Jon Macken, Ade Panicbiyi, Shefki Kuqi and so on...I do get concerned when someone arrives for over the million mark.

so - Eaglestilidie (U8144) *Whilst I agree with this 'I feel as a paying supporter I should know where the clubs money is either going or coming from.'

this "undisclosed fee" term. is not always a bad thing

Just to clarify I wasn't trying to say we shouldn't spend huge amounts of money I was just curious as to who has been good "big money" signings. I could only think of Morrison the second time but didn't think that actually counts.

Leon Cort was a good one. How much did we pay for Speroni?

posted on 30/6/12

I see, but i was saying when we do splash the cash, it doesn't always workout! Clinton 'Offside' Morrison doesn't count given i preferred him the first time before he joined Steve Bruce at Birmingham!
By the way, Jules was £500k

I only used Leon Cort as a starting point to your question, so has there been anyone since 2007? :/

What about Jose Fonte?

posted on 3/7/12

He was probs Peter Taylor's Best Signing! & would have him back! Along with Butterfield.
He was an undisclosed fee, but guessing as he was onloan at first....probs round the Million mark? If not just under as he had little game time before us, & no-one else was interested.
