they're not all that!

With all the talk of having “missed out" on Bowyer, it got me thinking about who else we might have “missed out" on.

Here are some of the movers around the league we could have realistically went for, and to be honest, we haven’t “missed out" on very much.

How many of these players would you actually have wanted us to sign? Given where we need to strengthen, there isn’t many of these we would even need.

How many of these players are better than what we already have? Whilst there may be some recognisable names in here, I think most are either untried, or shadows of their former selves.

Dele Adebola [Nottingham Forest - Hull] Free, Jack Hobbs [Leicester - Hull] £850,000, Bojan Djordic [Videoton - Blackpool] Free, Adam Rooney [Inverness - Birmingham] Free, Neil Danns [unattached - Leicester], Jason Pearce [Bournemouth - Portsmouth] Undisclosed, Lee Peltier [Huddersfield - Leicester] Undisclosed, Nathan Ellington [Watford - Ipswich] Free, Therry Racon [Charlton - Millwall] Free, Jason Shackell [Barnsley - Derby] Undisclosed, Morgaro Gomis [Dundee United - Birmingham] Free, David Norris [Ipswich - Portsmouth] Free, Abdoulaye Faye [Stoke - West Ham] Free, Nathan Tyson [unattached - Derby], Michael Chopra [Cardiff - Ipswich] £1.5m, Marlon King [Coventry - Birmingham] Free, Chris Burke [Cardiff - Birmingham] Free, Will Buckley [Watford - Brighton] £1m, Kevin Phillips [Unattached - Blackpool] Free, Steven Caldwell [Wigan - Birmingham] Free, Luke Varney [Derby County - Portsmouth] Undisclosed, David Nugent [unattached - Leicester], Craig Mackail-Smith [Peterborough - Brighton] Undisclosed, Sean St Ledger [Preston - Leicester] Undisclosed, Andy Reid [Blackpool - Nottingham Forest].

The latest names being banded about at the moment are Montgomery, Stockdale, and Brown. Who I feel could all do a job if we were to get them. Certainly a better job than some of those listed above.

When you look around at our direct competition buying players, are they really strengthening or playing catch up?

I’m not saying our team does not need improvement. But there are a lot of players listed above, who wouldn’t make our first team, and I wouldn’t have been happy about us signing them.

So if being quiet in the transfer market, means us keeping away from those mentioned. Then I’m quite happy about that.

But it also begs the question, who is there left available that is better than we already have, in positions where we are weak?

Just hope with us arriving late to the party, we are not left with the ugly ones in the corner.

there will still be some who won't be happy.

happy about brown. some batty style bite in midfield

out of the above would only have taken Dann, Faye and Hobbs. Some strikers that are good, but we don't need any of those.

Happy that Brown has just signed though!! Whoop whoop

Ay...the ones really not happy will be the opposition which is always a good sign.

If it keeps on like this, the squad will be just right for our assault on the Championship.

We are Leeds!
