M'vila not really a defensive midfielder

Disappointed with M'vila performance didnt really see him getting tackles in, intercepting showed some nice passes but that was about it

Spain kept bypassing him never really got close to them didnt really defend

He was just passing the ball backwards and sideways

Hes not as quick and strong as I thought he doesnt look ready imo needs alot of work

I agree with you John on M'Vila. But I love your recommendation of unknown players.

M'Vila is a good player, he would add competition for a place in the starting XI and he would add stability in midfield.

I'm hoping Wenger will try and mould him into a Gilberto type of player because I think a Gilberto-esque type of player is what we need in the heart of midfield.

Ignoring how good he is, I still really don't understand why we're signing him for £17 million. We have Song, Arteta, Wilshere, Le Coq, Frimpong, Bartley, Koscienly and Ramsey who can all play in that position. Why spend £17 million when you could buy a playmaker we need?

Not yet he isn't, but we could mould him into a Gilberto Silva and he would excel in that role in my opinion. It would suit M'Vila and it would suit our game.

Oh come off it OP, M'Vila was solid tonight. His distribution, vision and man marking were all spot on. All he had to do was win back the ball and break-up play which he successfully completed.

Even when he receieved the ball he didnt look comfortable his first touch wasnt great and hes got a very weird running style (His bum sticks out)

Shows how much you know about M'Vila who's a very comfortable player in possession who can play it out of defence and has a very good passing range. The Arsenal board honestly has the most clueless posters on ja606. Incredible really.

Weird running style? Maybe Pires was a poor player too with his weird, flat-footed, shuffling motion.
