Afternoon Gooners, hope all's well.
As has been mentioned on another thread, the transfer window is officially open. Upon reading that I realised that we as Arsenal fans are in a rather unfamiliar position to a point. In that the window has just opened and two transfer targets (that fans are happy about) are both already signed, done deals. The fact we keep being linked to M'vila would suggest that we're also in the market for a defensive midfielder.
There's been much complaint about AW's transfer conduct, particularly last year. But I do think he's handling things differently this year. Don't get me wrong, he and the clib still aren't about to go and spend 40 million on one player. I do believe however that this year, unlike the last four or so, there's a definitive game plan and course of action with regard to the team and squad for next season. Though we're still not paying silly transfer fees, the signing of two very good players already, shows an aggresion in our transfer policy that we've not since since Le Prof first arrived.
With that, my first question has to be. If RVP was only not signing because he wished to see the club's "Intent" in terms of improving the players around him to make us a PL winning club. Then that's clearly being done so where's his signature? If that is why he wouldn't sign yet then by now he will not only know that we have Podolski and Giroud but I would guess will be privvy to the knowledge about whom we'll bring in to midfield, M'vila or other (AW will have other candidates). He has no excuse not to sign now. Face it, after spending half his seven years at the club costing us a fortune in wages and medical bills, he's going to Merc the club after his one good season.
I'll gladly post an article taking this back if we see different before the season starts but until then RVP YOU BIG FAT
Something I did wonder about though. Is could this transfer aggression be the contribution of a certain Steve Bould? Arsene Wenger is a master at the spotting, tapping and developing of greatness inb both younger and older players. However he doesn't seem to know jack about how to actually organise/fully utilise your squad. Bould played for an Arsenal that was all about being organised and executing a set plan of action. Are we seeing the result of his influence already?
Arsenal Intent...The Bould Effect???

U must be completely misguided if u think Podolski and Giroud, are going to get this team the PL. I have every sympathy with rvp. If u r content with rum of the mill, then so be it, but we will struggle next season for sure. People seem to be content with dross. I slated Almunia a couple of years back when everyone defended him. They were quick to change their mind too.

I defended Almunia until I received a visit from a group of men at 4am at my house. They said stop it !!! and kicked me in the shin and ran away

I'd argue with you, but I did before and it was fruitless. You're not going to change your mind.

You should be blaming your board and manager for letting these contracts run down to a year left giving players agents the opportunity to put them in the shop window. The best paid PL manager Wenger doesn't wait for his contract to get to a year out before he negotiates a better deal

Awful article.
And no, the transfers are not a result of the "Bould effect".

ONE season truly performing as a star striker....
How cheaply some of you are bought. It's no wonder players are always holding their clubs to ransom if the fans are clearly backing being mugged off like this.

We have nothing to do with the club. Even if he is mugging us off, which he's not and you're being moronic, why would us supporting him have any impact on whether or not we sell him. If anything, us supporting him makes him more likely to sign. Stop being stupid.
