Tackling

Contrary to the ridiculous article about tackling being cheating, surely the game is expected to be rough and tough and a certain about of rule breaking and bending is to be expected and even encouraged.

some folk watch the sport to see the best quality rugby league they can from a technical and physical aspect, others watch to see their chosen team win, at whatever cost, yet others have their own reasons for liking the sport.

folk want to see big hits, crunching tackles. they want to see players layed out of the grass after being hit with a tackle to shake the stands. that will sometimes result in players being hurt and in jured, while unfortunate, its the nature of the game and fans want to see that.

its like the big crash in F1 , a bit unfortunate for those involved, but mightily delicious for those watching.

a sanitised version of rugby league will end as tag rugby, do u want to watch that???

I heard there was a sport that not only allow the contestants to punch each other in face face but activly encourages it and they try and know each other out cold, surely they should change all the rules immediatly!

i think a bit more biff in rugby league would be roundly appreciated and should certainly be encouraged.

biff is what makes this game, sometimes a really big hit is received better than a try, long may it reign

exactly. we dont want the game reduced to tag rugby.

If possible I'd like to see mud wrestling between the two troupes of cheerleaders, with a 10 minute break for a bit of Rugby league.....maybe 15 mins if the queue for a beer is a bit long.

like to see a bit of biff during that mud-wrestling atko??

Big hits are part and parcel of the game. A big hit in order to dominate, intimidate, assert your authority is accepted by all. A big hit in order to injure, maim, permanently damage is definitely not.

Unfortunately it's a fine line and judging the difference in intent between one and the other is sometimes very difficult.

In my view, the players reactions usually are the best guide. Bit of biff after the initial contact and it's a fair bet the challenge was the wrong side of the line.

u think fui fui moi moi goes into a big hit situation thinking..."oh i best not try to hurt this guy to his permanent injury, as that will be a bit out of order, i shall probably hold back a touch". lol

wants to see the opponent carted off on a stretcher having soiled himself i would have thought.
