I am assuming it has but, until this last season rvp had few games and was constantly injured. Do we think that this season he actually worked harder on his game and fitness to put himself in the shop window? So planned it all and had no intention of ever signing a new deal. People are baffled that Wenger let the contract run down to 1 year, however, why would he give another long contract to an injury prone player? He had no idea ( none of us did) that rvp would have his best season ever. Just a thought.

Ludicrous. I think the departures of Cesc and Nasri half made his mind up.

this.
and i really can't conceive of this 'one good season' idea - before this season, his average goal tally in the previous seven years was 13. not bad at all for a player who was always injured; and he only failed to reach double figures once in eight years.
