I'm going to ma manger James but I'd like to defend DeNiro as he got a bit of a doing on this thread earlier. DeNiro doesn't mind laughing at himself, he has made the odd turkey, sure, haven't they all. But this man has a body of work which stands the scrutiny of the most discerning of critics. Such is his dedication to his craft that if he was about to play Long John Silver then in order to be authentic he would chop one of his legs off. He has earned the right to ham it up in the Fokkers etc.
He is an auteur, and a true great.
