The age of the squad? Kuyt, maxi and i think bellers is thinking of leaving. Thats 3 of them over 30 and we just bought a 21yr old to go with hendo shelvey and coates. Now this may seem unimportant but what it means is the team can grow together and hopefully enjoy success together....i think the overall age of the squad is very young, and thats great.

What surprises me is that, with the average age dropping, a revolution in the making, completely different style of play intended, was BRs comments that return to the top may not be achieved during his reign. He certainly doesn't lack confidence, he knows, or says he knows exactly where he and the team/squad/club are headed. So why say that. Or am I looking too deep, I don't know. jimmyTheRed

Depends by what you mean by a return to the top. If that means european cup finals and prem titles every season or every other season then he may be right.
If it means a trophy and top 4 then then he is being a tad conservative.

Got_, I don't know what your take on it is but, the very strong impression I get, albeit on limited experience of the man, is that, in effect, the days of the big spend are behind us. Unlike many other clubs in the PL, the message from BR, supported by FSG, is that, with excption, the club will identify young players of high quality, undoubted potential, sign them develop them, possibly sell them on for profit and move on from there, onward and upward. Or am obeying naively optimistic? jimmyTheRed
