4 weeks ago Leeds put in a bid for a Joel Ward, this bid was too low and the increase in asking price (approx. 400k) saw us struggle to compete with other clubs.
Since then we have been linked with Lee Petier, Leicester`s asking price nearing 750k, Leeds have seemingly struggled to find the resources to buy him.
The Austin situation was no different, Leeds had to " come up" with the cash to buy him for 300k.
All of this painted a simple picture, a picture which had us as relying on outgoing players to fund incoming players.
So as you can imagine, the look on my face when news broke that we submitted a bid for Nicky Maynard. Here is a MARQUEE player who went to West Ham for £2,000,000, so it stands to reason thar our bid would have to have been in and around the £1,000,000 mark.
Where did this shift in transfer conduct originate? Who gave this bid the green light?
Why did the money for Aidy`s negotiated wage increase come from, Ross wants to stay apparently, and Robert is still here (could have handed in a transfer request)
Noises from the club indicate crucial signings over the next 10 days, i think i read the term "exciting" being thrown in there.
It it jumping the gun to suggest the takeover has indeed completed, and funds have been released in secret as to not inflate the market?
Remeber "announcement" is something that happens AFTER the event.

Gray got 8 goals as a squad player for Barnsley last season. We shall need him in the cup games and some of the midweek games. Plus he isnt a mercenary and loves Leeds.

People should lay off Gray, he scored more than Billy and Forsell combined, people can be far too snobby om player picks, remember we're still in the Championship and need players like that.

Why announce you have £m's to spend and have all the prices inflated?
Warnock knows exactly what funds he has and it's enough to do the deals he wants to do. If clubs knew we already had a new, rich, owner they would just inflate the prices.
Canny Yorkshireman springs to mind.
Once he has his squad then I expect an announcement re the ownership.
Love it

If he already has the money to spend, as people keep hypothesizing, then why is he spending it on rubbish like Drury, Kenny, Gray and (soon) Varney? It doesn't make sense - surely no group with funds who had taken over a club would sanction such unambitious moves?
It must either be that the takeover hasn't happened yet (which, let's face it, it hasn't - or they would legally have to reveal it) or that the backers are pretty much skint themselves ala Portsmouth.

Bear in mind, 'signing' could mean existing players signing new contracts. Snoddy always said he'd wait and see what the intent of the club was before committing. It's be Roy of the Rovers stuff if he lead us into the Premiership.

So you would like NW to spend millions on players that would cost millions in wages and maybe not take us to the promised land? Just look at Leicester to see that throwing money at it does not = promotion. To be honest I would rather trust NW's judgement than most of those who post on here.
NW is building a squad based on the money he knows he has to spend. I heard it was £2m now and £2m at the end of July. Not sure how true that is but it seems prudent to keep it quiet. He will build a squad that is able to challenge for that money I think.
