Borini - I can't wait

Morning fellas, Chelsea fan in peace blah, blah, blah.

I actually think Chelsea fans are more excited than most the Liverpool fans at the prospect of Borini playing in the PL. I’d imagine most of you aren’t particularly familiar with him yet so this is normal. I just think this is a very shrewd bit of business and I think he will fit in very well with Rodgers’ system and at Liverpool.

Of course he had a very fruitful loan spell under Rogers when he was still on our books and not only do I think he’s suited to the PL I also think he’s grown up a lot since then. I think a couple of moves (be it on loan or transfer), partially moving countries takes young players out of their comfort zone and many mature as a result. That and now getting a taste of international football.

Having said that he is just 21 years of age but I feel ready to play for a club like Liverpool in the first team, I think he will step up to the mark, rise to the challenge and take his game to the next level. I’ve always been impressed with his movement and finishing. I’m not quite sure what position Rodgers has in mind for him yet, possibly on the left of a front three, he may even put him at centre forward or slightly deeper. I suspect attacking from an advanced left side role but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him given a chance through the middle if he impresses, Suarez I’d imagine is a pretty versatile attackers so perhaps Rodgers has plans for one more forward to complete his front line.

So what are your expectations of him for Liverpool long term and for next season? I’ve put him in my fantasy team for the coming season.

I think some of you having done a bit of research may have reasonable expectations, others I think may be quite surprised at his positive impact and I think he will be one of those names people start talking about much in the way Ba was last season. (With a bit of luck too of course).

Good players, a good match and good luck to the lad, I sincerely hope he succeeds because it was tough for him to break through at Chelsea at the time and he made the right decision to leave.

I wouldn’t say he has any truly outstanding single attributes at this stage (such as the power of Drogba or the instinct Fowler had) but he doesn’t have any weakness I can see of either. He’s has very good levels of instinct, good technique, is not lighting quick but has pretty good pace, well built for his age, natural finisher and he also plays with maturity beyond his years.

He’s a player I’d say is ‘shaping up nicely’, steadily improving in all areas and a striker I think you will find a very complete player, by the time he’s 23 I think he will be hot property if he carries on as he is.

ǝlƃɐƎ - I certainly would, but don’t think we really need him at this time. IF Torres can build on his form from the end of last season and his goals from this summer he should be backed as our main man now the big man has gone. Sturridge (who is not that popular among Chelsea fans, mainly due to arrogance, laziness and selfishness) will I think now get a chance as his direct understudy though he preferred central role where hopefully his selfishness and not tracking back won’t be the issue it was when doing a job from a wider position. If Lukaku goes on loan we will need a third choice utility striker who can cover right forward as well and not expect more than 20 appearances hence the interest in Victor Moses.

So while Borni would be an asset to the current Chelsea squad I don’t think it’s in the best interest of all parties. We need to back Torres, Sturridge essentially takes the role Torres had last season and we add one more (Borini would again find him self on the peripheral if that happened I suspect).

At Liverpool Borini won’t have the burden of being the main man but will play, he has a great opportunity here.

Bluedroog, it wiill be interesting to see what happens with Torres. My impression of him at Liverpool is he works best as a lone striker with someone like Gerrard as his partner. So maybe Drogba leaving will help him. And at Liverpool, our best forward, Suarez, is versatile and more capable of playing with someone. So, you are probably correct that Liverpool is a better club for Borini at the moment.

Hopefully it goes well, thanks for the nice words.

I hope not!

Personally I think we will line up as:

------------Torres

Hazard----Mata---Ramires

----Lampard----Oscar

Cole—Terry---Luiz---Ivanovic

-------------Cech

GK
Cahill
Azpilicueta
Mikel
Sturridge
Marin
Essien / Meireles / Benayoun / McEachran / Kakuta / Romeu

For 5ft 11in he actualy looks quite slight to me. Also looks very one footed but he does play on the shoulder and he looks like he knows where the net is.

I actually think Torres will have a very good season. He needs to feel like the main man and think and having Drogba, who’s not only a club legend but also a huge personality around when you’re not firing could be quite off putting.

Although the system we play now is similar to previous systems (it’s now 4-2-3-1 as apposed to 4-3-3 so subtly different) it was set up with Drogba in mind, all about power. Chelsea have been actively recruiting a different sort of player for the final third in Hazard, Marin and co and I think it’s all aimed at supporting Torres, slightly cuter than we’ve been used to in recent years and hopefully will yield both results and flair, something the owner has craved.

Back to Borini, I actually think you might be able to compare some of his movement to that of Torres’ and to have that at 21 bodes well.

Robbing – I wouldn’t say he’s slight, he’s not big by any means but he’s bulked up since leaving Chelsea. I think he looks about right, decent power to mobility.

Hopefully, he will be a gem that can put away a lot of the chances that went missing last year!!
