I wonder if those folk who say Varney is a good signing still think that now as he'll be the replacement for Snoddy as I've been saying might happen.

I can't see that myself. This was always a possibility, and Warnock should have someone lined up. My feelings are though that whoever we sign will be a step backwards.

Maybe the person he lined up was Varney.

Think we all know that he was Jonty - why else were we after him for so long.

You sign your number 1 targets 1st and then add your squad members - thats how Warnock has always operated in the passed

Youngwhite, many on here seem to be very happy with Varney, so I don't expect them to change their tune now, but I remember posting some weeks ago querying whether Varney and Norris were right signings for us.

I genuinely hope Varney is not the intended replacement for Snoddy.

Jonty - all the signings we have made (with the exception of Drury) we were linked couple of weeks before. If Colin has a replacement other than Varney in mind we would have heard by now!

Squad as it stands is far worse than last seasons starting squad

Stronger than last season's starting squad (Becchio excepted), but probably on a par or slightly better than last season's finishing squad (assuming Snoddy still a Leeds player at time of writing).

However, being slightly better is not good enough for a side that finished where we did, the squad needs to be a lot better!
