Mancini's worried

I said yesterday that it was strange how City haven't been up to their usual tactics of splashing the cash but was shot down by City fans stating they are well set with what they have.

My argument was it's dangerous to stand still even when you've had success and it appears mancini agrees with me. Stating today that he's not involved in transfers but it's important to act quickly on these things if they want to carry on being successful.

He was basically having a pop at Marwood and telling him to get the cheque book out. So expect some activity soon.

City shouldn't be our problem as much as i hate to admit, they are set more than most.

Infact, they will be stronger this season - even if they dont sign anyone.
Tevez's demons seem to have been exorcised ( i am sure Mancini sought the Vatican's help)

Aguero will have had a season's experience and will most likely get better, Nasri as well.

But as previous posters alluded, they could still get out the chequebook anytime but IMO they dont really need
it - except a top-level cover for Kompany.

That's the problem city have the moments, they've brought in players on very high wages, (being the richest club in Europe) now who is able to take on these high salaries players?

We need cover for kompany and lescott, looks like kolo an Kolarov are off, clichey an Zabbaleta really came into their own during the run in.

The best players we have, silva aguero yaya tevez dzeko Johnson nasri are all staying and have a decent understanding of eachothers game.

United have benefited from having strong players leading the newer players, this is something that's starting to happen as city with kompany built from the back and now have a decent spine.

I doubt he`s worried about not signing anyone when he knows he can pretty much gazzump any club anywhere in the world if he wants a player.

What i think will worry him is losing kompany to this apparent hammy injury. Kind of like us losing Vida for so long.

I doubt they will remain silent for long.

Bosco

I also read that Kompany would miss the start of the season but then he scored a goal in their last game so I think its more media disinformation on that front.
If Mancini can get a top class CB who's happy to be behind Kompany and Lescott in the City pecking order and a replacement for De Jong is he leaves then they'll have a complete squad.

I've read a lot of stories linking Dzeko away from the club, though I think that would help rather than hinder them. I think they could have done a lot better for their money there.

BB, perhaps.

Dzeko is a very good player. Just not suited to City's style or they didnt use him properly.

You dont buy a Ferari and use it likea Vauxhall Corsa. He would thrive at a team like Utd, where we primarily operate with potent wingers.

"They've no chance of clearing the deadwood. Who is going to match, or even compete with such wages?"

Seriously? They seem to have cleared most of it. Just Ade, RSC, Weiss, M.Johnson, it isn't that much. United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, ourselves all have far more deadwood to get rid of.

Yet all of their wages combined still don't match Ade's. They also need to offload the like of Kolorov, De Jong, a striker ect if they are to bring in replacements. Did mancini not pretty much say this himself?

You will probably find these players will be shipped on loan until their contracts run out.

Connoisseur - fair point he did look awesome in Germany and would suit a more direct style of play. I think Ade is a better player personally.

Hmm, BB that is debatable.

Ade has talent but is very wasteful in front of goal and we all know his attitude problems.

I would have Dzeko 6 out of 7 days a week and the 7th day? Oh well...

To each their own.
