There's been some negativity around our transfer business, with signings like Varney, Norris, Green, Drury being uninspiring on paper. But Warnock obviously has his ideas about what these players will contribute and were they will play and fit in his squad. There are some similarities between our transfer business and Warnock's at QPR 2 years ago.
Their squad wasn't exactly brilliant before these signings, similar to ours, with a few stand out players and finished in 13th in 2009-10.
One of his first signings was Paddy Kenny. With that promotion and then a year in the Premier League, there's no doubt that he'll be as reliable as he was for them.
Also, signings like Shaun Derry and Clint Hill would hardly have had the QPR fans feeling positive - both on free transfers, from a club which had a poor season. Similar to us getting Green or Drury, free transfers, not had particularly spectacular seasons with their clubs.
Bradley Orr and Jamie Mackie also signed, neither of whom had glittering careers prior to their QPR moves. Varney comes to mind.
The only stand out signing was Taraabt, who was bought for a bargain £1million. With £3million in the bank from the Snodgrass deal, provided the new owners/Bates let him spend it, we could see a similar sort of player come to Leeds.
Don't dismiss Warnock's signings, because if we were in the position that QPR were in 2010, we'd all have been saying the same things about Derry, Hill, Orr etc. Players like Varney, Norris and Drury aren't signings that get fans excited but if they fit within a system - QPR had a solid defence with 25 clean sheets - that let a few stand out players florish, then we could get promotion.
This obviously depends on who comes in to replace the creativity of Snodgrass - and if Ross leaves, his goals - but our current signing's could turn out to be good.
We can take hope from Warnock's QPR

He is a youth player so perhaps he is training with the youth team, strange that he hasn't been involved in any other games, as other young players have. Heard nothing about him leaving

Jonty, not 100% convinced, but feeling a lot more positive and optimistic with Warnock in charge than the start of last season with SG. He knows what he's doing, so I reckon we have a good a chance as anyone else if he can bring in the players he wants.
Bluememe, the team does look average on paper, but my point was, so did QPR's really, apart from 1 or 2 stars.
You're right about the pressure and especially if new owners come in.

Excellent post, Best Fans. I'm also feeling more confident. It's got the look of a solid squad to me, but I was sure NW was banking on building the team around Snodgrass - albeit for one season.
It might not be pretty next season, but might be pretty effective.

Thank you Leeds and Proud, if anyone else knows anything please post.

Spot on article and it's good to get input from QPR fans too, the QPR team was very similar to one we have, experienced solid players, we just need a taarabt.

Best Fans, nobody should know better then Leeds fans that posting on the Leeds board is an open invitation for the ducks!..
Great post but we have a lot out there with a gun and no glasses!.
" How was our defence under Warnock last season? Hardly solid. Face it, the signings are abysmal, his tactics are abysmal, his Leeds record is abysmal. He needs to go."
Ovid, I look forward to the day when you show people on here you are a Leeds fan, because all we seem to get on our boards is more then the average % of outsiders that like to poke their faces in but don't really belong to us, you wouldn't by any chance be one of them would you?..
As for the defense like you kindly point out, funny but its easy to point out the part of our team that's been at fault since before Mac had a chance to sort it, and I have a feeling its the part of our team that someone outside of the managers office didn't want sorting, so hopefully those people are finally on their way out, if not then we may have another manager that has problems with the defense!..
Having said that, the dead wood that everyone goes on about, and bringing new players in, well Warnock is bringing them in, but the dead wood in any team is not easy to get shut of, and that being the case players coming in will only add to the wage bill, but we have to hope that we can get the right mix and maybe some of the players we want out could come good!....(before anyone gets out of the wrong side of bed, I said MAYBE!".)
I see it like this, Warnock is proven at this level, and he should be allowed to get his first team with us in, and when it all back fires then people can add to their names, "Warnock out by x-mass" and the usual tripe that goes with it, but if he gets it right then them same people should turn around and add to their names, "Warnock, we love you more then anyone in this whole wide world"!..
But you know what?.....we all know which one of them people are not going to add to their names don't we?..
Give Warnock a chance to do what he's good at, we may be pleasantly surprised!.

I would trust Neil Warnock over the dreary negative inbreds that whinge all the time on here.
There, that wasn't hard.

Then more fool you. I cannot believe that so many on here don't have the independent thought to see through Wakner and his giant ego. The man should be nowhere near our club.

Why would being dreary make them inbreds Eric?
You speak well sometimes, but at others you come across as a childish d ick

I didn't say being dreary made them inbreds. I said I would trust Mr Warnock over them.
Get you facts right before you berate is my advice and read posts thoroughly...!
