Why are we playing Ross McCormack in these friendlies if he's about to leave, Surely we should be concentrating developing tactics etc with the players that are going to be with us for the coming season.
McCormack has just scored two against Torquay. Yes its good were in front but at the same time i would have preferred if the scorer was someone that was going to be with us. It doesn't fill you with confidence that we are relying on a soon to be departing player

"Nw has just said he wants to keep Ross after the game."
As an "impact player," i.e., a sub. As others have stated, Ross needs to start games so he can play with confidence.
Unless NW changes his mind about Ross's role, start preparing the farewell party.

Never said impact player. Since when do you play a player that's scored 19 goals as a impact player???
It's not about nw changing his mind it's about Ross changeling his. As he will not sign a new deal.
So it looks like he is off, but who else was he going play as a striker today? Becchio and Somma are out injured. Paynter will go soon. So who was he going play?

Ross must be the best technical player we had last season. Why does everyone assume he's leaving? I hope Warnock just gave him a KITA because he missed too many chances and has a bad attitude when he scores - points to name on shirt and runs away from team mates. Unless he is disruptive in the dressing room?

More money available after the offer for Snoddy was turned down. The wages I mean.

"Never said impact player."
Who never said "impact player?"

Whites manager Neil Warnock was very clear on what role he sees McCormack playing next season, referring to him taking the ‘Adam Le Fondre role’. He sees Ross as an impact player coming off the bench and changing games in a similar fashion to that which Le Fondre did for Reading’s Championship winning team last season. After topping the club’s scoring charts with eighteen goals, McCormack and his advisors rebuffed the club’s new offer and he now looks set to depart.

He Never said he was going be a impact player after today's game.
And said he wants to keep him if can after today's game. so we will see what happens. Think he will go.
But don't see a player that scored 18 goals being a sub impact player if he signs up on new deal.

"He Never said he was going be a impact player after today's game."
Did he say he intends to use him as his main striker?
Did he say he intends to satrt games with him?
He always said he wanted to keep him.
The question is in what role? See my posting above.

4-5-1, 4-1-4-1, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-1-1, 4-3-2-1 - all boring. We're a side that has traditionally played 4-4-2 and have had succeess with that. Becchio and McCormack are professional footballers and should be able to play alongside each other.
The issues are that neither have had much opportunity to play together due to injury or form or due to the managers' (Warnock and Grayson) formations where Ross was out of position on the left.
We will not get a better striker than Ross at the current moment in time, particularly when you consider that we have a habit of selling someone and then only investing a small amount of that revenue into a replacement.
On the basis that we would probably only get £750k for Ross, then I suspect we'll be looking to spend £300k on a replacement. Do Pompey have any strikers..........?

In my view better striker than Becchio, certainly better last season, when LB came back from injury he wasn't fit, looked disinterested, if Ross does leave we have big problems up front.

Same logic to main thread should be applied to Martin Cranie. Has played alongside Pearce all pre-season with exception of 2nd half yesterday when Lees moved to centre back. We need to make our minds up if the guy is going to get a contract. If not then we really need Lees and Pearce to get some proper game time.
