A Tractor Nother Bidder?

Should we now be starting to ‘risk’ the glass-limbed Steve Davies in these pre-season friendlies to get him fit and drum up interest in him from other clubs?

At what point do we have to start looking toward the start of the season and the match-fitness of our first-choice attacker as the saga of his proposed move stagnates with the sudden reticence of Paul Jewell to splash somebody else’s cash?

He’s contracted to us for another year and, ideally, we’d be selling him and getting in a replacement that could use the remaining friendlies to work at understandings with his new team mates. At this point though, I think we’d do better playing him even if only for 45 minutes or so; we risk starting the season using him in competitive matches and increase the risk to him whilst not getting the best out of him either.

I’d suggest an ultimatum to Ipswich; they either pay the fee we want or do one, and we’ll start playing him again. Playing him and having him score goals can only attract more interested parties and help get the fee for him that we need to replace him and, who knows, he may even decide to stay after all.

Thoughts...?

2 out of 3, Wassa!!

666, trust you to come out with that one. But it's not a bad record though is it, 2 out of 3? Don't forget the red dogs also got beaten by Mansfield

Tonight doesn't mean any more than the Stags result: they're all just run-outs for the big event!

Still think it's time we played Davies though: a hat-trick tonight would've bumped his fee up a touch I'm sure, pointless match or not!

666, no way in a million years will Nigel Clough risk Steve Davies!! He's a selling asset and he doesn't want to risk him getting injured. We're that desperate!! Like someone on here said earlier on, we are selling decent players and bringing average players in. Regarding tonight's match, I know what you're saying, you haven't got to tell me 666. It's all about fitness, getting the feel back, and getting used to the new players.

From somebody at the game... Derby should of had double figures!!!

3 goals flattered the hosts, one a silly foul from Bucko to give away a pen in last min too! Says we have some terrific young players...

That's right beefcake, we shall leave it at that lad.

Theo keeps on-a-scorin'

Davies can clear off, we don't need him.

We have Ward, Theo, Tyson, Bennett, Hughes, Jacobs who I'd rather see in the side.

He's the Van Persie of the Championship. One good season, injured for the rest.

It's strange that when those 'decent' players were signed originally, they sure as hell weren't even described as 'average' players. More like 'lower league rubbish'.

If the current progression continues, when our 'average' crop are sold, Wassa will bemoan the fact that we are selling 'great' players and only replacing them with 'decent'.

Must be a Clough thing.
