Jordan Rhodes

Ignoring the fact that Venky's don't have £6m and I don't trust Kean's judgement on anything bar how to lie (though may be handy for a forthcoming stag do)...

What do we all think of this?

Ignoring the cash his scoring record is fantastic so sign him up - seems like he could do a decent job as the main man then form a good partnership with Best.

Hark - i hear somebody from yesteryear cry - we have Goodwillie, surely he can play at this level somewhere near to the Scottish premier. If so then great; an option, cover, whatever, goals.

So come on then Mr Kean, deliver this signing.

Oh then please remember... We scored enough last year but your inept management meant we were woeful at having any kind of system, organisation, defensive ability!

SORT IT OUT

thats a step up for rhodes..

yeah sitting on Fulham's bench will do wonders for his development.

I think £8m would be overpriced too for the same reason, he's only ever played in League 1. The fans of the club that has players like this usually over-value them because they've been absolute heroes for that club. We all thought Santa Cruz was worth £18m and Bentley £15m, ask Man City or Spurs fans and I'm sure they thought they were getting ripped off (as hindsight has shown they were).

If you guys think he's worth £8m, no offence but an objective viewer would probably says he's worth about £5m. But given he has 3 years left on his contract, you can probably add £1m onto that to get a realistic bid. I agree with you Novak, the main thing working against us is this would be a sideways step. Our only hope is that Rhodes is gullible enough to swallow the Kean/Venky spiel about our imminent promotion, Murphy was.

murphy joined because we were the only club willing to give him a 2 year contract.

i guess from rhodes perspective, we do still have some decent players at the club and are probably a better bet for a decent season on paper (than Huddersfield).

i don't think it will happen though, its just classic kean and venkys pretending to try and sign good players.

For the record, I'm not saying he's worth £8M, just that any club who wants him will have to fork out that kind of cash.

He's still under contract and we're not exactly scrimping for cash. So unless silly money is parted with, then Jordan will remain a Town player.

You've gotta take the feelings of the player into account though. If he wants a move and there's a chance he could spend the season sulking, it makes a huge non-negotiable price tag less of an option.

Works both ways. If he spent his time sulking rather than applying himself to his football, his form would most likely nosedive, killing any chance of a big, dream move. He's hardly in a Modric situation whereby he's already proven himself.

And besides, if you've ever seen him in a post match interview, he's not a Billy Big Balls type. He's as grounded as they come and seems happy just playing football.

I'd be vey surprised to see him in a Blackburn shirt, especially this season.

And anyway, you already destroyed poor John Stead, can't have you doing that again to another of our starlets!

We didn't destroy super steady, he saved us from relegation was considered for England and sold for a profit!

I know mate, seriously tongue-in-cheek! I remember him going batshit mental during your run in that season. Unfortunately he just lost his way

Cool. Some of our fans that have only really known us as a top flight club put Super Steady in the bracket with Kevin Davis or Corrado Grabbi.

A good honest player who'd work hard and had an eye for goal - not quite sure what happened...

What happened is he got found out once the surprise factor had worn off, and it turned out his natural level was mid-table championship. Thats why I hope we don't go higher than £6m for Rhodes, although knowing Venkys they never went higher than £0.
