Called up to the full NI squad at the age of 17.
A tremendous achievement for any player to be called in to a full international squad at that age, regardless of the quality of the nation in question.
Well done Ryan.

"Don't ask me, I'm not the one who pulls out. It happens very often for Northern Ireland. I'll have another look at the squad and will let you know."
So you prefer to leave it in TOOR?

Well that depends on the circumstances.

The outcome more often than not is usually the same though. Circumstance doesnt matter

Well that depends on what kind of control the other person has.

the thing is there are rumblings ROI want McLaughlin in their squad and not the NI Squad. So NI Are trying to get him introduce him into the squad now that he is starting to play a bit for Liverpool so we dont lose him to ROI. Sad i know but thats what we have to resort to in order to protect players born in our country.
Johnny Evans came in as a teenager aswell and handled it from his 1st match. Hopefully the same will apply to McLaughlin

Yes it is terrible that the country has to resort to this method, just to convince a player to play for the country he was born in, the country which has paid for him, his training etc.
If he handles it as well as Evans did, then he'll stay in the squad.

Serious lack of depth in the NI squad right now.

Serious lack of quality, nevermind depth. No real goalscoring strikers in the team. Healy is past it. Lafferty isn't going to score a lot of goals. The defence is decent but with some exciting players in the last season or two opting to play for ROI, it's very frustrating.

we have the vast majority playing at Championship Level and above - with our young prospects in reserve sides for PL teams. Thats as good as we can hope for. We do lack a goal scorer now which we need to sort out ASAP.
