I don't think anyone's saying that the youngsters should be playing regular football, I just think that integrating them into the squad.
If you look at Suso, he went on the us tour after performing really well in the under 19 tournement and then it's back in the reserves for him. Surely he'd get more better training with the first team!

I especially agree with this bit
"Like Manchester United, Liverpool were blessed in the '90s with an unusual amount of high-class academy graduates. Both teams have had players come through the ranks in the new millennium, but none have been as exceptional as names like Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Neville, Fowler, Gerrard, McManaman, Owen and Carragher. That batch of players raised expectations for what kids can achieve."
That had nothing to do with Liverpool or ManUtd.
It was a freak anomoly of talent coming good in a flukey patch. Never repeated.

I don't think it was a freak occurrence. it was always a balance of young and experienced players. For every young Neville you had a Bruce and for every young Giggs you had a Kanchelskis. Man U got the balance spot on. Also there was and still is a winning mentality at all levels of the club. the youth are bred in it.

The last top class player they 'produced' was Beckham.
Manutd have a great model, but getting that many class players all at once in a class of sorts was a freak occurance just like us 'producing' Fowler, Owen and Gerrard in quick succession was.
Who has either club made of that calibre since?
The answer is no one.
