RVP: Our Smartest Captain Since Adams

No offence to Vieira, Fabregas and Henry, but I think RVP has just rescued Arsenal from the path of oblivion and obscurity. When Vieira was captain and saw the ship sinking, he jumped ship even at a time when the club needed him the most. I cannot really blame Henry, but he could not conjure up a way of saving his beloved club. Fabregas, his head was messed up and his heart was far away; he just could not place Arsenal before Barcelona. And then came Van Persie. He not only carried us through a very difficult period in our history to clinch a third position (a time when Nasri, Clichy and Fabregas left us at the same time for greener pastures), but he also took the initiative of shaking the boardroom with his perfectly timed outburst, which has led to the tight purse loosening it's strings.

I personally think this was an act of genius, and I won't be surprised if Wenger was a part of this master plan. I wasn't entirely satisfied with the acquisition of Giroud and Podolski only. I always felt we needed that something extra and I think the signing of Cazorla is that missing piece. I have always asked myself why Wenger would be so keen on keeping a player who claims they do not want to play for us. The only answer that I can give is that "Did Van Persie really mean what he said?", which makes me think either Wenger read between the lines and figured that RVP was just frustrated or that he inspired Van Persie to do what he did so that he could convince the board to show some ambition.

Let the attacks on me begin.

"People are very quick to call others stupid."

"It indicates a lack of self esteem I think."

If you want to see gibberish nonsense, I suggest you look a little closer to home before getting on the high horse

The evidence is in every thread on this board, mate. Seriously, does a single thread get written where someone isn't calling someone else an idiot? I think not.

Not at all, it is a conclusion I hav e come to about these people that throw out this abuse blindly based on nothing more than a single statement, generally. It is an 'opinion' if you like drawn on the 'evidence' I mention above.

Alright, keep your hair on - where is the nonsense gibberish here? You do know your post was nonsense, right? I assumed it was intended. You don't have the most refined sense of humour, do you.

I'm not on a 'high horse', I'm merely pointing out that maybe you shouldn't be on such a big one yourself. Jeez.

I see, so I shouldn't be on a high horse when I'm ripping someone a new one for calling me dumb.

But you're not on one because you're telling me I must have self esteem problems for doing that.

No, no, no - you're 'high horse' was coming out with something quite so pompous as

"I'd suggest occam's razor applies here but you wouldn't understand it."

You may recall this was what I was talking about, but only really when someone else agreed with you that this would be something someone possibly wouldn't understand. It struck me as an odd thing to say, the principle of Occum's razor is, essentially, "the most simple answer is probably the right one" - so when this chap immediately replied "Keep it simple", I thought he was alluding to the meaning and ignoring your accusations of ignorance - which appeared to be quite an amusing retort completely missed by you.

I then made a general statement that a lot of people (that's both of you, and one or two others, in this particular thread) seemed to spend a lot of time earnestly telling each other how stupid they think each other are. I postulated that this might be down to their own feelings of inadequacy coming to the surface. Nothing more than that reallym and not about you in particular at all - but boy, are you overreacting.

Aaaanyway - you've clearly got your knickers in a bunch over the whole thing, so best left alone.

If that were the case then God having made the Universe would win out over the Big Bang theory every time.

It seems to have whooshed over your head rather than mine.

You see, I figured you'd write something like that, I hoped you wouldn't, but figured you would. Kinda proves my point despite how much you protest it.

I've written it because it's true, the principle is often misinterpreted by those who have never had to apply it
