Belper Town 1 - 0 Derby County XI

Errr. I wasn't expecting to write this but be under no illusions Belper have a strong squad. Had Ben Davis not put another sattelite onto Mars from a penalty it would have finished all square. Good run out for both sides. No real performances from Derby players. Got to give credit to Jordan Turner for taking his goal so well (4th ish choice striker). Anybody else got any food for thought?

Well said that man. Couldn't agree more. Belper have started a scheme whereby a family of 4 can get admission to the match and a programme for £12! Furthermore, to make the experience better there will be activities for kids so that the parents can get on with watching the match. I find it's more of a community affair at this level and really good to get involved. The Ilkeston lot were a real asset to the league last season. Shame you went up like you said. Derby have a market to sell to but so do smaller clubs. Maybe people should support 'local' when Derby are playing miles away...

I do. Borrowash Vics. Firendly clubhouse to watch the match from on a rainy day and keep check on the scores on the telly while supping a nice pint of real ale. Cheap & chips.

Good to hear Iwas.. Can't beat supporting the local team. There does come a point when you put things into perspective and look at the comparisons of supporting Derby.

Price - Ilkeston Wins
Ambition - Ilkeston Wins
Honesty (the rubbish that clough goes on about) - Ilkeston win
Beer and Food - Ilkeston Wins
Having a laugh and not going home angry - Ilkeston Wins

I guess the only thing you can't substitute in terms of watching Derby is the atmosphear and butterflies that almost every game brings (the adrenaline).

By the way.. This isn't an advert for everyone to start going and watching Ilkeston (although you should give it a try).

Saul Deeney has a better first-touch than Conor Doyle.

Stop worrying about the result so much....
It was kids, trialists mainly... so not awfully indicative of the season ahead!

Who's worrying Simon?

Iwas. well I'm worried cause I think we'll get found out this season, with all the youngsters we've got and the lack of experience in the team! I've got a funny feeling the fans will turn on Nigel and force him out, but there's only so much he can do with young lads. But as most of us know it's lack of investment and we're just waiting for this fair play whilst everyone else is investing. It's a joke!!

Let us see what happens after 10 games Wassa. Sides start to take shape then. I am not worried yet, the youngsters might come good. Only Cardiff seem to be spending money and they always fail in the play offs anyway. Not feeling any sort of inferiority complex at the signings I have seen by other clubs. In fact many look like a complete waste of money.

Wassa, I was just stating that know one was saying anything worrying on this thread, that's all.

I think we are light in attack even with SD staying

Well, according to some we were certain to struggle last season - and I don't see that overall we are any weaker (much).
