I feel for you + replacement

Guys, Utd fan in genuine peace, hence this is only on your board.

Okay, I won't try to lie about the inevitable excitement I'm feeling right now after agreeing the deal for RVP (still not finished, though!) but at least 7 of my 10 closest friends are Arsenal fans so, while I may now have some extra artillery in the banter room, I also feel like I have an 'understanding' of your team (be a bit suspect to say fondness).

What I mean is I would dislike AFC a lot more if not for them.

I think, as always, people are taking this over the top as AFC, as we've seen all too often nowadays, lose World class players and remain, even better their previous seasons' results.

You now have a solid defence (finally!) an ever fantastic midfield (although Song leaving would add insult to injury, quality player) and 3 new players who, with out without RVP, add massive quality to your side.

So, all is not bad.

The main reason I wrote this, however, was I've just read rumours that Wenger has said on some French station that he's already bought RVP's replacement, anyone know if there's any truth to this?

For me, if you bought a quality striker and a LB, it may have been a blessing in disguise. But if no further funds are spent then I feel this could really hurt the morale of the squad and fans.

The difficult situation you would be in if the deal is completed is that, if no big signing came in at all, even if it was un-needed and Podolski, Carzola and Giroud became some kind of miracle trio, the fans will demand a big name replacement just for the psychological catalyst.

Anyway, sorry (and kind of not, I'll be honest) guys. It happens to us all *Ronaldo* no bitters from any side please!

Possible replacements:

Berbatov
Hernandez
Heskey (cheap and home grown)

All the rest are too expensive.

Bring in Sahin, M'Vila and Mirallas. It will guarantee us top 4 at least.

As a utd fan I think Arsenal have got a cracking deal here. 2.75m to 24m is a bigger % return on investment than utd got with Ronaldo (12m to 80m) who is younger, better and wasnt in the last year of his contract
Bah!

I am gooner,

Read the rest of the article.

Anyway, I still think you'll get top 4 regardless but Giroud isn't guaranteed to settle immediately. You can't put that pressure on him.

I think a lot of your fans would feel disgraced if you lost your captain and didn't purchase a player of true quality after the event.

Like I said, all other areas of the pitch you posses great quality. Up front though, if he does leave, you have Giroud who's yet to settle, Podolski who floats to the left a lot and Chamahk, who, well...you know.

I always felt that £15m or so + Berba would have been much more satisfactory to all parties.

Let's face it, the club was never going to let him leave on a free.
While I detest the fact that it's Manchester United we have sold him to, at least we don't have him poisoning our dressing room and have made valuable additions to the squad.
Re Robin's goals, I think we can replace them by having a more balanced attacking lineup.
While you, on the other hand, have paid a hefty fee for an injury prone striker in his last year of the contract they do not even need that much in the first place. This is my genuine opinion about it. You are boosting the areas you are already strong in while neglecting the central midfield which, in the opinion of many, has been in need of strengthening for years.

Hope for that too.

March,

I agree we don't need him, but when people started talking about the pressure it will relieve from Roo, it made sense a bit more. I hate it that Roo is 'untouchable' even when he goes through phases of 5 games being our worst player. Maybe that's about to change.

CM wise, while I'd have preferred Song/Whilshere, SAF clearly has a lot of faith placed in Ando + Cleverly stepping up. And, for one last season, we can turn to a player that we can all agree has immense ability (I still think he's our very best player) in Scholes.

I agree we need a v v good left back as I don't have the confidence in either Gibbs or Santos but I don't see it happening. I don't think we will buy a striker, too, but I do not see it as a priority. Either Podolski or Giroud should be able to adapt and bang in the goals.
I do feel could do with and make an addition in the central midfield. Let's see how the Sahin situation pans out. Given Wilshere's injury and Arteta's possible fitness problems, and Diaby being the unreliable enigma that he is fitness-wise, I think there is much sense in loaning Sahin, but the option to buy must be present.
