RVP's hunger

Just wanted to remark on RVP's remarkably good attitude and hunger.

To me he has come across as an incredibly hungry player who is a bit of a perfectionist, like our old mate Ronny.
The fact that he was bemoaning his own poor penalty, instead of focusing on scoring a great hat-trick away from home, including a last min winner, says a lot about his character. As Vida has said, he is more than just a striker, he's a fighter!

After years of close calls for Arsenal, you can sense and see the hunger in him to win trophies and for perfection. Even on his debut, he says that the goal will mean nothing, if it doesn't lead to any silverware. Also the fact that he didn't let the penalty miss affect his gameplay negatively is also a huge plus and will serve him and United well in the future. His ability to win games by himself cannot be underestimated!

I think we're all pleasantly surprised as to how quickly he has settled in and he will score at least 20 league goals this season if he stays injury free.

Another sidepoint is Rooney's hunger. For me, mentality/hunger is a huge part of football. It's why Eric and George retired early. They felt they had reached a peak and could not attain anymore.

I think Rooney, despite being only 26, is already coming to that stage of his career. He has won numerous titles, spearheading much of our recent success. He has scored in a CL final, won the CL and has carried United for the past 3 years, having incredible highs such as the West Ham hat-trick and the City overhead kick. Personally I thought Wayne's most productive and consistent season was last season, in which he was ruthless goal scoring wise. Scoring against Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and City. He wasn't just scoring easy goals either, awesome free-kicks against Arsenal and 30 yard hits vs Fulham.

I was worried before signing RVP, how Rooney would motivate himself to get 25plus goals again, despite people slating him in the press for his poor performances! RVP signing is a masterstroke by Fergie, as it will alleviate huge pressure from Rooney's shoulders, prove to Rooney that United can still attract WC players and are ambitious, as well as mean that Rooney's position in the team is under threat.

Rooney as a lover of football, will adore playing and linking up with RVP, just as he did with Ronaldo. I feel RVP and Shinji for that matter, will reinvigorate Wayne's overall play and motivate him to improve his performances whilst not feeling the burden of being the matchwinner in most games.

Decent article from a veritable member of 'TEAM ROONEY' of which funrob is president.

Evidence for Rooney's complacency? His fitness. Even SAF commented on it a few days ago.

If you love yourself and the game, you will treat your body like a temple and not a Croxteth Council Estate.

Red Con

Where have you been? A day without comments from you is like a day without oxygen or free internet porrn.

ACtually, I don't know if you read the same thing as me, but Sir Alex was talking about players body types being affected by their parents genes and given how fat Rooney's parents are, Rooney is much more likely to pile on the pounds when not playing than other players.
Interestingly this piece also said Sir Alex only signed a 30 year old Sheringham because he met Teddy's Dad and realised he didn't have an inch of fat on him.

Maybe Rooney let himself down a bit in the summer by not being 100% fit on day 1 of the season but i'd put down good money on betting he'll be just as motivated and enthusiastic for the game when he comes back.

hahaha

Yes, i read what SAF said on the issue but there is one thing '...just because one is predisposed to something, doesnt mean they are predestined'. My father and grandfather had Diabetes at my age, i realised this a while back and fought (and continue to do so) tooth and nail to not succumb to Diabetes.

I just had to make certain sacrifices.

Sure, Rooney's family is akin to the Royle's but it is no excuse.

PS

SAF's advice is also suitable for choosing your partner. I saw pics of my missus' mother and knew that she wont balloon.

Rooney's hunger these days seems to be for Pies.

Only Michael Carrick covered more ground than RVP for United on Sunday. Compare than to Berba's first season with us whereby only the goalkeeper covered less ground

Lost all respect for Berba after his recent comments. If Berba had the right attitude on the pitch he would have been playing. He cost us a club record 30m and should have produced far more than he did. The fact we only goit a few mill for him should tell him exactly where the problem lied and it is not Sir Alex

RVP is ten times more lethal than Berba will ever be and puts a shift in for the team too.

I'm sure he isn't that hungry, he can afford to eat all the fillet steak he wants to.

Op
I agree with some of the points regarding RVP but when it comes to Rooney, well yes in the past he has shown the hunger to win which we all want to see from him, but looking at him in the Everton game I think he is only showing the hunger for pies.
