Carlisle away

We need to stop the rot tomorrow and get something from the game then follow up with a result on Tuesday. Two away games, I'd take 3 points. Carlisle won last week at Hartlepool and Portsmouth at Crawley, so both are on the up and we can expect 2 tough games. I'd like to see Thompson starting at RB, Flint and TAH central and J Mac as the back four. Ritchie, Ferry, Bostock and RDV across the middle, Collins and Rooney A up front. We need to pass the ball if we're going to get anything. Hoofball gets us nowhere.

Thoughts?

Well I've got enough dead slugs, don't want to win any more! We need a good display & a point at least. 3 games lost on the trot is bad enough, but if it comes to 4 or 5, then that tanker is going to take some turning around.
Another display like the last 3, then I wouldn't fancy being on the coach home - it's a long way if the DiC starts his ranting!
As for team selection, I don't really know, but more worrying is that I don't think that he does either.I wonder whether selection of those on the bench might be more important than the starting eleven. We still don't know how all the new guys will work together. So, my opinion is to start with his best shot & have versatile subs to plug any obvious gaps. Keeper, fullback, CD, midfielder & striker.

Red,
Plenty being said on the match day thread in The Adver today, especially about those out injured etc. Also seems there is a big problem on the M6 getting there. I'd turn off it if I could and use other roads. maybe the match will be delayed. That would be fun, Canioman could have a rant then before the game starts, chortle !!

A good away point which I'd have settled for before the game. We need to follow this up by getting something at Pompey on Tuesday.

A good point indeed.
But what has happened to Flint? Is he the snake in the basket?
We cannot afford to lose him.

I think this was another trial game by Canioman to see who fits in with who. He back four it seems were rather unsettled and gave away two easy goals for Carlisle. Obviously Jervis felt he had a point to prove and did just that rather well, a two fingered salute to Canioman if ever there was. Williams yet to score, quote The Adver,

Andy Williams has a glorious chance to put Swindon ahead when he gallops clear down the right but Mark Gillespie is out to make the save.

Og Gawd, he failed again ! Sorry but a few games in the reserves would be handy, BUT, Canioman don't believe in a reserve team, so we have to struggle on, barn Door Billy has now been replaced, by Wide Wide Woodwork Williams

But surely Flint was worth a place on the bench in case his formation fell apart, which it almost did. To leave him out altogether seems very strange. Flint is not only a good CD, but also a scoring option. But the DiC didn't sign him so maybe he will be on his way. That Ward don't look to me as much as an improvement.

Red,
That Ward as you call him, is far from what I expected, Bob Hope and No Hope come to mind.

The whole thing is the Caddis and Cibbochi events were not on the radar in pre season otherwise better cover would have been sought.

Butu, as Canioman says, it seems we completely outplayed Carlisle in the second half, and were unlucky not to bag all three points. That said, Williams was left on and his woe continues, as does his lack of goals.
How long can we afford to have a striker who doesn't score. At the weekend , Jervis scored, Clarke scored, Connell scored, just to name but three ex town strikers that Canioman couldn't keep, control, dominate etc
Add to that Caddis, I dunno how he got on, useful contribution I guess. Nose,Face, Spite, Cut-off all come to mind, but we are playing better. I expect new defenders in the January window, mind you it will be Easter before he thinks they are fit enough LOL !

How's the Pointer ? given up the pickled slugs yet ?

SF, Is Williams actually a striker, or a mid field player who is supposed to score a few? I f it's the former, I say give him a chance.
Pompey tomorrow. That will be a test. Again a ground that I have only been to once, another 2-0 defeat, just like my trip to Carlisle. But I remember that one 'cos we were in a pub before the game & on leaving, my bro. raced across a dual carriageway & got knocked over by a car. After we had decided that he wasn't seriously hurt, just dazed, we left him lying in a flowerbed in the central reservation 'cos we didn't want to miss the kick off. I think he joined us at half time, didn't miss much from what I recall.
Pointer not interested in slug cocktails now. Her bowels have been giving her problems! But, anything new in the garden, she has to stick her neb in to see if it's edible. We had no gooseberries for 2 years, her guts were almost as bad then.

Red,

Have you tried the Pointer on Guinness and peanuts ! LOL !!!!!!

Not tried Guiness, not my brew, but she's snaffled enough peanuts off the bird feeder without serious problems. We try to give her a balanced diet. What we feed her is balanced against what she can steal outside.
