How much SHOULD footballers be paid?

If we're going to hate on Man City for paying David Silva £200k a week, tell me this:

How much should a footballer be paid? By this I mean BASIC WAGE sponsorship and other stuff is up to them to sort out.

What do you think is a fair wage to pay to a footballer without being excessive? To make things easier, say what you would pay to each of the following players:

Lionel Messi - Top player in the world
Thomas Vermaelen - Captain of Arsenal, features in most games for his side
Tom Cleverely - Will consistently get 20-30 games a season for Manchester United
Marouane Fellaini - Key figure for Everton
Phil Jones - Young player with potential for Manchester United
Hilario - Backup goalkeeper for Chelsea
Rickie Lambert - Star player for Southampton, a promoted side
Maynor Figueroa - Defender for Wigan

How much should they get paid?

ronaldo and messi should be payed £100k a week. Players like carrick scholes £50k a week. Players like nani and valencia £75k a week.

If you actually look at it perspectively £25k more a week is a lot of money, more then high paying jobs for most people get more then a year let a lone a week. This will help clubs reduce debt and players heads won't be turned. More royalty to clubs etc will be shown.

Players like wellbeck really should be getting max £25k a week. Bottom end clubs that play for wigan southampton should pay max £10k a week.

This is just general idea butI remember when I heard players get paid £120k a week nearly a decade ago and thought is thatfor real.

Also I am all for basic £1k a week salary and lets say £10k a week for playing or £5k a week for making the subs bench etc if you are on £11k a week.

If you actually look at it, 10k per week is even too much let alone 100k! as far as I'm concerned, they should get 100 k and below depending on how good they are

Where is all the surplus money gonna go to Hafijur if you're playing players 10k, 25k etc?

10k a week is only 365k a year, after tax that's like 200k a year. 200k a year is not that much money. I mean, it is, but people have been known to aspire to more.

footballers should be paid 15k a week max. their should be a cap, no doubt.

not much lol. Considering I was saying this is for lower end of the table or league players £100k a week max for top end players cap is a ton of money. Its a ton of money though. Its actually laughable how much they get for basically playing mostly 180mins a week and training for a few hours a day. Thats a lot of money considering top doctors probably don't get paid £100k a year let alone every week and 52x that if you get 100k a week then a top doctor who saves lives.
