Gulf in class - La Liga and PL

Real Madrid vs. City - there was simply just one team in the game. The final score shows a thriller but City were played off the park. Yes, City are still finding their feet in the CL but they have a team of stars and are the PL champions. But Real were a cut above them. I am not singling City out but this was just the most recent example of this.

Also when Barca played Chelsea or United or even our own Arsenal, they have usually played these teams off the park.

We rather deludedly consider PL to be the best league but there seems to be a huge gap between the cream of La Liga and the cream of PL.

I noticed you had other things to do, hence the less to distract you from your cheap cider. A lot gets past you drunks doesn't it...

Still on with the racist stereotypes?

I actually went for a jog and I run my own company. But each to their own number 7. When are you back at school you moron?

Drunk was the only original excuse left for your stupidity, well maybe not the only one but one of the more obvious ones left. Maybe you would prefer me to start aiming my comments at a lack of schooling or something similar...

Firstly stumbling down the street drunk does not count as a job, secondly I was not aware village idiot was a self employed position.

I suspect Real & Barca would finish comfortably ahead of the rest if they were in the PL at the moment ,can't imagine them being happy enough to take a point at Stoke like we are

Also anyone who thinks the TV deals they get in Spain would in any way benefit them more than the ones they would get in England clearly doesn't understand anything about how the TV deals work...

The difference between Madrid's and United's TV revenues is less than 25M quid (latest figures, quioted from SwissRamble: http://swissramble.blogspot.com.es/2011/06/real-madrid-and-financial-fair-play.html).
Not as big as it's made out to be, eh?

Factor in than they'd be getting far more exposure worldwide and they would very likely boost their other revenue streams, so in the end they might very well up having even more means at their disposal than now.

It'sonlyagame, i know you are a Madridista and for you RM epitomise all that is right in the game but an extra 25M is vast. That would buy an Ozil and Khedira and will still keep some change.

Imagine what a team like Espanyol would do with an extra 25m.

Not to mention the fact that it greatly stifles competition. I wonder how long till the rest of the league really instigate an uprising after all the league is not only made of Barca and Madrid.

"If anyone wasn't sure about how clueless you were before it has now been confirmed for them!"

Have you seen Dortmund play? Do you even watch the Bundesliga?
You see. That's the thing with English fans like you. They combine being blind/clueless with bias and arrogance. A poor combination.

Bundesliga has higher quality of football. But continue living in that little bubble of yours where Man U and City run the game.

"I think you will find the team that the Rangers fan supports are actually in a completely different league to ours... perception has never been a strong point for you though, along with most other things."

That was pretty obvious. But hey, continue posting pointless dross like that to make up for your poor argument.

"Yes because when we look at it Real and Barca have both been unbeatable in recent years... who would have though 10 years ago that Spain would have had a club side consecutively with the CL for the next 10 years running..."

Barca and Real are better than the great Man U, or any other team.
Man U would struggle beating the likes of Bilbao, etc, week in, week out.
Not good enough.

...if only!
Unfortunately, they epitimose a lot of what is wrong with the game, but you make these choices as a wee lad, the emotional attachment is too strong to simply switch clubs like that. I would say though that a lot of what is thrown against us is greatly exaggerated and sometimes just plain mistaken, but there are plenty of things about the club that I'm not too proud of.

Indeed, on the scale of the revenues of other Liga clubs. But my comparison was to United's TV revenues, and that, you'll agree, is proportionally a lot less significant, especially if you factored in the positive effects that playing in the PL would probably have on the club's coffers.

Also, bear in mind that there are a lot of clubs who could have afforded the transfers and wages of players like Ozil. Money's no doubt the main factor, but sometimes other factors tip the scales.

Certainly won't happen a day too soon. Believe me, I'm all in favour of there being as many clubs as possible in the mix - I don't enjoy the current duopoly at all. La Liga imo was far better round about the turn of the century, but it's a catch-22 situation though, because for a lot of clubs today's debt is a result of trying to live above their means back then.

Unfortunately though, on the TV rights issue, talks have been ongoing for over two years now. The problem is that the clubs immediately below the big two are just as greedy, so each proposal they've made has been rejected by the smaller clubs. The fact that the LFP also includes division 2 sides doesn't make it easier to reach an agreement either.

A great deal of their apparent domination is based on the fact that they keep possession well and pass the ball well. While these are key elements to succes in a game they do not win games, to win you have to score goals and in that regard City almost matched them and in fact almost won but for the crazy end. Chelsea beat Barcelona because Barca did not score more goals. Tippy tappy stuff playing in front of the opposition back four will not win you games even if the possession stats look impressive on post match analysis programmes. When they did manage to create chances Joe Hart and Kompany kept them out well until that crazy last 5 minutes. Gulf in class? i disagree, technically better on the ball but generally with more experience i can see City just getting better.

Until the bundesliga regularly outstrips the premier league in European competition your opinion is worth about as much as the average astrology column. I may as well start saying the Greek league is better than the Premier league, evidence would suggest the premier league is better than both but if we are going to ignore the evidence lets just go wild with it...

You were the one claiming the Rangers fan supported a team from our league, I am simply helping you to avoid looking stupid in future, thank me any time.

..........................................

........................................

They may be very good teams and one of them would probably get the title most years but they wouldn't be able to get a stranglehold on the PL when you consider that even with the advantages they get from La Liga (far more tv money than their rivals for Barca and Real) they still don't manage to be the top two teams in Europe (by performance rather than ability)

So take away these advantages and stick them in the premier league and there is no gaurentee they could hold on to the top two places for any length of time...

...........................................
Man U would struggle beating the likes of Bilbao, etc, week in, week out.
Not good enough.
..........................................

If we are going to go by the evidence of the last time they played each other then sure...

Liverpool would thrash Real,
Chelsea would beat Barca
Bilbao would beat United
and if Valencia joined the majority of PL clubs that have played them in Europe in the last 10 years would beat them outside of Stoke who would lose.

The fact is Real are far better than Liverpool, Barca are far better than Chelsea and United are far better than Bilbao....

Valencia are probably worse than most of those English sides they lost too though.
