Beckford could be good at this level in a team that plays to his strengths.

He's not a top striker, and he's not a natural goalscorer, but he will score goals if played in the right way.

He's not a premiership quality striker that some Leics fans seem to think he is, but he's also as poor as the player we've seen in a city shirt.

In my opinion, he's no better than strikers on a quarter of his salary so there's no need for us to keep him, but I think he could do a good job at Hudd.

I’m not suggesting that Beckford is a bad player and it’s not escaped my attention that Grayson is the manager who got so much out of him at Leeds. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he went to Huddersfield and was successful.

I think Mersey has it more or less spot on. He doesn’t fit with the style of Leicester and what the manager is trying to do. It seems that we should either change completely the way we play to accommodate one player or look at other, better value, options. To my mind JB simply isn’t good enough a player to build a team around and would probably be better off at a club that “fits” him better.

2 weeks ago I thought Beckford would be a good signing - proven goalscorer and undoubted talent and I'd accept his poor work-rate and cocky-rse attitude.

NOT NOW! Not after seeing the work rate and togetherness of the squad that Larry is building. I wouldn't risk compromising that with a an arrogant, big time Charlie type.

To be fair that style of play doesn't really suit any of our forwards (apart from Futacs perhaps and he's 4th or 5th choice). I'm not sure about balls OTT, but we definitely played the 1st few games in a 4-4-2 formation - with balls whipped in from the wings and nobody over 6' to head them. Which game did you see?

Nigel P has changed the style recently to a sort of 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2. This had the effect (albeit only in 1.5 games) of creating plenty of chances for the forwards on the deck. It will be interesting to see how this formation is retained for the away matches coming up.

I get the feeling that Beckford would be played best alongside a forward who's decent in the air and does the dirty work for him. Becchio did this for him at Leeds in a similar than Steve Howard did it for Matty Fryatt with us. If Hudders can set up to do this then it just might work.

Grayson will know exactly the role he wants Beckford to play to get the best out of him, otherwise he wouldn't be bothering would he. It will be as a 3rd striker option though in case Vaughan succumbs to injury. Meanwhile, just the threat of his arriving has got Novak and Vaughan playing really well to keep their places...even Wardy is starting to play a bit now...maybe it's just a ruse by Grayson ?
