Chelsea have shot themselves in the foot

It's all pointing towards red faced Chelsea staff.

I'm a Chelsea fan and agree... but I'm truly sick of all these incidents. Football (as a whole) needs a quiet few months.

Right after the olympics we were all talking about how football needs to follow the impeccable conduct of the athletes..

premier league footballers mainly get more in a week then most athletes earn in a year.

Any 50-50s will go against them now. The refs know how to look after their own

i think it may go the other way tbh... refs will be that determined to not give Chelsea ammunition in that respect and will go out of their way to not look like they are looking after their own.

they'll get away with murder on the pitch

im just wondering why we're suddenly having a lot of these incidents involving racism, when i can honestly say in the 18 or so years ive been going to football and watching football ive never seen or heard anything like what has been happening and alleged over the last 12 months

---- does make you wonder if racism on the pitch's just been swept under the carpet in the past and maybe since Suarez' incident, players are now eager to report it.

i think its gone way OTT, people are being over sensitive now in some cases.

as said before, before the suarez incident it was pretty much unheard of in the English game, i think now players are using it at every opportunity now, and to be honest, its starting to get tedius.

Regarding the official complaint about the referee, the appropriate response is the empirical one: look at all the available evidence and treat it objectively. If it demonstrates that xenophobic or racist slurs were used, he deserves to be punished.

Regarding 'over-sensitivity' to racism, I'd rather live in today's world than the one I grew up in where there was mainstream tolerance of racism. I remember being in terraces with thousands of United supporters all around me making monkey chants when a black player got the ball. I've read several accounts by players still in the Premiership of regularly receiving racist abuse from fellow professionals during games. I'm not against using 'sledging' in sport but racist language is part of a wider societal cancer and it has no place in banter or attempts to wind people up.
