If we'd have RVP today

it would not have made a shred of difference to the result. The game was won and lost in midfield today, ironically the area that I thought we were stronger than United in. United worked hard off the ball, and were very well organised, pressing so we struggled to move forward. When they won the ball off us they made it count and pretty much every time they came forward they looked dangerous.

By contrast we looked lethargic and were very sloppy when we had the ball. Once we'd lost it there seemed to be little structure to how we tried to get it back, players chasing after it with little though for positioning.

Just when it looked like we might be gaining a little impetus, Jack was sent off and the game was over. Ultimately the scoreline flatters us somewhat and United had the better spirit and just wanted it more. We won't win the league again until we can match their mentality.

Of course we would have lost because United are not a 1 dimensional team who rely on RVP and would have found another way to get a result, whereas we only play 1 way even though it has never brought us any success.

Class article mate.

I said that before that the midfield battle is important to win.

Verm: really get a grip mate. Van Persie could have no has to score another goal. He missed this. If Girould would have missed that opportunity you would have cruzified him.

With our approach we would have won even if the surfer would have played in our team.

Yea Verminator, who do you think you are for criticising Giroud for missing a very easy chance. Grow up.

to be honest I don't get the fuss why people think man utd midfield is poor. If we play our oldies like scholes and giggs then yes 38-39 year olds are gonna struggle. But as a squad we have I believe on paper the best midfield. It may not have the names but we are great there.

Funnily enough I personally think our finishing has let us down so many times this season and we defend well for most of the game but when ever a team has a shot on target against us it mostly goes in.

i beg to disagree. RVP is a thousand times a striker than Giroud and with Walcott playing along side him he would be lethal.

The wings were not giving them any options either..

first half you didn't even turn up

second half you dominated them and cut right through to their 18

dodgy corner after a missed offside and you got sucker punched. You looked about to equalise at that point.

Ultimately not subbing Witshire is really what cost you the match. You were in the ascendency the entire second half up until that point.

That Giroud chance was quite like the one RVP missed against A.C. Milan last year, so I don't think that's a great argument.

Ref had a pretty good game - Wilshere should have gone, just like Cleverly he had a warning having already received a yellow - Fergie pulled Cleverly, Wenger gambled as we were behind and it didn't pay off.
