I don't like Henning Berg...

Is it just me?

Not in the same way that I didn't like Kean, he's not a completely inept, lying crook... However, I didn't like him when he left for United and never really forgave him when he returned.

As for his appointment, where on the actual list was he? Did we really wait a month to hire an out of work manager with little history of success? I'd honestly have preferred McCarthy or Curbishley or Holloway.

I will support him and wish him well but in my opinion it's a poor appointment and i don't like him!

Agree on the logic of the appointment (i.e. that there was none) but disagree on his likeability.

It was a daft appointment in my opinion, fuelled by Shabby's desire to have control over the new manager. Going for a guy with a dubious record in a significantly inferior league means Berg has made a massive step up and so has a lot to lose, and is more likely to tolerate Shabby's meddling. Given whats at stake here, £50m a season of TV money, its madness that we didn't go for the safe option. Look at the start Palace have made under Holloway. That could and should have been us.

On a personal level, it wasn't the best that he left us for the red sc.um. But, like Shearer, he did stick around for a season after we won the title and deserves credit for showing that amount of loyalty. And then he returned to help us win promotion and the league cup, so all in all a top man in my book.

McCarthy or Curbishley or Holloway? Probably not.
McCarthy too old school, Curbishley, a mediocre comfortable old slipper and Ian Holloway, although good, too volatile.
Berg will offer a fresh approach and the style of play he wants is reminiscent of the mid nineties when all was well.

However, nothing is guaranteed in football. The best manager in the world could come to Ewood and fail, just like the least inexperience could succeed.

I dont mind Berg, his persona is great, his love for the Rovers is pretty clear,he is a rover at heart, none of those failed managers i would want at this club,,very rarely do those managers actually win things again,,Holloway as droped straight on his feet,,no one in the world could put there hand on there heart and say that he had any input at all in our defeat at Palace,he will do well there because he has inherited an excellent squad of players,,but will he keep them in the prem,,no he wont,,also Blackpool were deff on the slide so for him to get out of there was a deff win, win.
Berg is untried in the English league, he has a reasonable squad not a good squad, some important ageing players need to be replaced with like, midfield will be a major problem to him along with our back four,,so no it wont be easy for him and i would expect him to struggle untill he can sort out those areas of our team,,for me a good appointment.

But wouldn't it be sensible to play the percentages mac? In his last 2 seasons in this league, Holloway has promoted Blackpool and then come within 1 game of promoting Blackpool. And on both occasions with a worse squad than we currently have. He's more than capable of doing the required job. There's no evidence from this past record to suggest Berg is.

B&W, I do like Holloway, dont get me wrong, but I dont think he would have been right for Rovers. Although he has had two good seasons in the championship he failed to keep Blackpool in the premier league. Prior to this his managerial career has been quite unspectacular. A great PR man but can be quite ignorant to the man in the street!
He will do well at CP as the squad is very good, if he can keep their best players that is come January!

Absolutely no logic behind his appointment as others have said.

Classy guy, hard to dislike. Can he do the job? No-one knows, hence the potential problems with his appointment.

Cost buttons, sold for millions to United. I have no problem with that.

Berg or the classless, lying, scheming, obnoxious, despicable moron? Berg all day long.

What a comical football club. Sacking a great manager like Kean and then waiting a month to sign a nobody who got the boot from some fizzy pop Scandanavian team
