Attitude

Well, that was another dreadful performance and frankly we got the result we deserved.

The players' attitude to the league campaign has been abysmal and it is no wonder our results have been so poor. Let's not kid ourselves on here, the players' mind-set is what is responsible for our poor league campaign. It's almost as if they are completely apathetic to a competition which they regard as a formality. How disrespectful is that to the fans, let alone the rest of the league who are embarrassingly close at hand?

When I took my seat today I thought that we would win comfortably and it would also be a great chance for us to pay tribute to the players who heroically toppled the mighty Barcelona.

Instead, I was left in total bewilderment as to where the players who had beaten Barca' had gone, because this seemed like a totally different team. A team bereft of winning the second ball, a team without any real creativity and most sadly a team that was devoid of any urgency to excite the fans!

The manager may come in for some criticism, but I don't believe he is entirely responsible. That's not to say he is absolved of any blame.

I felt that today's team was completely set-up to accommodate Scott Brown which meant that our midfield was lacking balance. Brown has been a good player for us this season, but he's not match-fit and his presence just affected the whole rhythym of the team. There was a real gap in between St Johnstone's midfield and defence that we should have been able to exploit, but no one was there. In the first half, Samaras and Commons were completely hogging the same area of the pitch, meanwhile the gap I mentioned earlier was untouched. Not only did that mean we missed a good opportunity in exploiting the gap, it also meant Miku was left isolated and had no real support for the full first-half.

Which brings me to the point about Miku. Why was he taken off? Was he injured? It should have been Samaras who was taken off, and that's something I was screaming for at the time, never mind during the second-half when Samaras was too much of a coward to get the ball away! Having said that, Lennon was right to bring Tony Watt on because he is one of the only players who shows the desire needed, it was just the guy he took off which was wrong!

I am getting sick and tired of some of these players cheating the fans with such apathetic performances.

It defies belief that these players are capable of winning against Barcelona on the Wednesday and then drawing to St Johnstone on Sunday.

Normally, I would question the manager when this happens, however the only thing he is really guilty of is not getting the players motivated to win these games. We all know the type of personality Lenny has and if he can't get through to them then that tells me that our players just don't have the right attitude for the league games and it is time Lenny drops them.

But they'd only take notice if they were perhaps dropped for the 'Champions League' games and that's something we probably can't afford to do if we want to ensure we get to the knockout stages.

Next week will be a very tough game and the result will affect us considerably. Unless our players go there with the correct mindset then we will lose to Aberdeen.

Genuine thoughts would be appreciated. Any wums who become repetitive and stray the debate onto petty argument will eventually be deleted.

Henke - this is exactly the reason the SPL attendances will dwindle! Seriously how many will turn up week in week out to see this? How many will travel to Aberdeen next week for example? Is your next Euro adventure after Aberdeen? If so expect a shadow of the Barca team! I just dont get why an abundance of players were not chapping the gaffers door pleading for a chance! And again we banging the gaffers door tomorrow DEMANDING their chance!

I believe it was you who was congratulating Lennon for ridding the club of apathy and emphasising what it means to play for Celtic! Seems it didnt linger long!

Lennon will turn it around, but he has very little room to manouevre considering the results we're getting in Europe.

He can't just lay into them when they've just beaten Barca'.

Henke - aye he can! Yir only as good as your last performance! As Ive said before come the end of the season will you be renewing a season ticket on the strength of Barca or the product you are paying for?

posted on 11/11/12

I renew it every season anyway, so it'll be no different.

Do you think your getting value for money though Henrik?I gave up my season book at the end of the the 2009/2010 because I quite simply wasnt enjoying it anymore I was bored with the SPL rubbish on show. The only games I really enjoyed were the OF and European games which I still miss dreadfully. When I gave up my book i always said i would still go but simply pick and choose the games i went to but outside of the European matches there is simply NOTHING domestically i would be prepared to pay the money for to watch,I really fear for the attendances over the next few seasons I have no idea how many season book holders we currently have at the moment but it is sure to dwindle without any real competition.

"ritchie

I didn't enjoy today for sure, and you're right. I spend over £10k a year on tickets and stuff.

But I'd rather do that than go shopping with Mrs Ginger. That would cost a lot more "

fair enough Ginger cant argue with that
