Suarez - I'm very happy at LFC

After being presented with the award at Melwood, he told Liverpoolfc.com: "I have a very long contract here and it's a dream come true to be playing at a club like Liverpool because, as I've said, as a boy I dreamt of playing for a team like this.

"Now I'm here, it's all about enjoying myself and trying to be here for as many years as I can, because I'm at a club where I'm very happy, my family is happy, I've got fantastic teammates and a manager from whom I'm learning so much.

"As a player, it's vital to have the backing of your manager and so I think that the confidence Brendan is showing in myself and the team as a whole is very important and it's down to us to repay that trust out there on the pitch."

Suarez added: "Let's hope we can keep improving. I'm working well and I'm very happy at a club where I've always wanted to be. At a club to whom I'm very grateful for the trust everyone is showing in me - a club with amazing supporters and teammates who are all great people.

Terminator wind your neck in son! I am just pointing out that several players have said exactly the same thing but in the end of the day if you don't win enough matches then world class players will of course look elsewhere!

I know what you mean.

I think with Luis though we have a player who has been popular with the fan's wherever he's been.

The Ajax fans for example gave him a great send off and wished him well when he left for England (he never put in a transfer request)

After that he went through the well publicised Evra incident and his bond to the Liverpool fans has grown strong. How mant times have we heard the idiotic 'luis suarez you know what you are' chant?

He's about as loyal as you are going to get with a footballer who'snot from the city he plays for but it's up to the owners to make sure that stays the case.

That is where I am not so sure

If the owners don't back Rodgers then top players will go.
The real saving grace for the owners this season is the emergence of sterling, suso and wisdom.
They have to build on that and add genuine quality in every window. It's going to take balls but if the don't then they won't get a return on their investment...simple as that

Say what you like about Dalglish's handling of the Suarez/Evra incident, but I would suggest that it is directly because of that support he was given, that he feels so strongly bonded to the club, and its fans.
If the club had taken the type of stance the media, and opposition fans had called for, there may well be every chance Luis would have looked for a way out of the club, and the country generally.

Suso has a new contract, Sterling can't sign a long term one until he's 18.

If BR isnt given sufficient funds to build the team and City come in with £40M+ for LS, what happens then?

He wont be sold to Man City, and Rodgers will make do and mend.
Then if there is no improvement in the summer, as regards funds, and transfers, the only place I can see Luis going, is abroad.
