Why is everybody writing Arsenal off?

This question is primarily aimed at Liverpool fans who seem to think it is a shoe in that they will finish at least 3rd, implying that Arsenal will drop out of the top 4.

First off this isn't a dig at anyone, I would actually like to have a sensible debate about this, I'm not here to have a go at Liverpool fans I would just like to know from them and Arsenal fans themselves as to why people are quick to write them off?

Whilst many Liverpool fans have been heavily critical of my comments about their team and signings, I don't think their squad is as bad as I make out. Truthfully speaking I think their squad is good enough to challenge for a top 4 spot, however I still believe Arsenal are better than them and Spurs, by quite a distance.

I'm not going to go into the ins and outs of Liverpools signings, but irrespective of what I think, I believe Liverpool have a stronger squad this season than last, I think the fact they are playing domestically and not abroad definitely gives them a huge advantage over Spurs. Arsenal are used to playing in Europe and in England so it doesn't matter as much, but Spurs aren't.

Time will tell whether Gervinho is the sort of signing Arsenal need, but I have always thought he is a very good player and his pre-season brace against Cologne showed what he is going to offer Arsenal. The players at Arsenal are improving with age. Walcott, Song and Wilshere are all better players than they were 18 months ago. I still have my doubts over how strong Arsenal are defensively but one things for sure is that Arsenal are going to put away many teams by large margins if Gervinho, Walcott and RVP all stay fit. IMO teams like QPR, Swansea and Wigan will be tore to shreds by Arsenal. As they will be by us and United, I don't share that optimism with Liverpool.

People underestimate the impact of psychology in sport. Away from home, Arsenal are a different team, but I still believe in the eyes of Warnock, Rodgers, Martinez, Bruce, Pardew etc the Emirates holds as much fear as Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford. I don't think Eastlands quite yet has that enigma and Anfield has certainly lost it IMO.

I think Liverpool will have a good season, but they are 5 or 6 signings away from being on Arsenal's level.

On the old 606, when Liverpool finished 2nd and starting talking themselves up and saying they were going to win the league and that Chelsea, Arsenal, United were rubbish etc. I said soon after they sold Alonso, they wouldn't make top 4, now of course Liverpool fans laughed etc but it turns out I was right and had the last laugh, as I did when I predicted they would not get out of the CL group stage in 09/10.

It would be foolish to write off Arsenal completely, even as a rival fan I accept they are still a talented team that IMO should make top 4 with ease.

Every indication suggests Mancini will let City play with more freedom and style. I listened to one of his recent interviews and he said that, I personally believe him. I think because Tevez was the only fit and firing striker City had at the time, he had to play 4-5-1 and hit on the counter. City are overloaded with defensive players. I think when City get Aguero, irrespective of whether Tevez stays or goes, Mancini will revert to 4-3-3 with David Silva playing a playmaker role and Yaya Toure and this new midfielder they are getting as the creative influences.

I don't for a second believe Mancini will stick to the 4-5-1, that formation can only take you so far, it comes as no surprise to me that the last 2 teams to win the title (Chelsea and United) have both won it playing in a 4-3-3 formation
