Is Wayne Bennet right?

Don't get me wrong B.F.....I think Bennett is in the top 2 - 3 rugby leagues coaches to grace a clip board.
But I hardly think he is in the position to advise anyone in re; of thinking of somebody else when it comes to contract negotiations.
When big Petro was approaching the end of his contract at Brisbane some 4 years ago...Bennett approached Petro and said because of salary cap restrictions we can put you on $$$$ for the 1st year and then beef it up to $$$$$ in the 2nd year to compensate.
Well....Bennett rebuked the offer of the 2nd year and Petro was forced to leave Brisbane and join Penrith. True story I heard it straight from the horse mouth....Petro himself.
