Which player did you/ do you prefer?
It's a difficult one really because the whole aim in football is to win and Messi's goal scoring ability is on a completely different scale. He's good to watch but I prefer Ronaldinho in his prime. Ronaldinho's style of play typifies why I love football. In terms of effective skill and creativity on a football pitch, he is by far the best player ever to have graced the game. Not saying Messi is bad on the eye though.

I'd rather watch Zidane and Ronaldinho
I'd rather have Messi if I was managing a side.

How is this even a topic of controvesy?
One player gets you 50/60+ goals a season and just as many if not more assists.
The other gets you 20

no, i'd take messi to win more
As a neutral I'd rather watch Zidane or Ronaldinho for the sheer grace or outrageousness of the spectacle.

I think a few posters in this thread need to go back and read the original post. It is not a question of who is the better player - surely we all agree that is Messi? It is a question of who we prefer. Which for many of us comes down to pure entertainment and Ronaldinho comes out on top.

Whilst Messi has sustained brilliance, Ronaldinho was the more brilliant.
Messi seldom does things to get me off my seat. He brings his A - game nearly every time.
Ronaldinho on the other hand, whilst he often trouts out his C-game and even B-game, he occasionally produces an A-plus game.
Ronaldinhos invention and creativity surpasses Messi.
But Messi's enduring brilliance sets him apart.

Ronaldinho & Gazza style of play is what i love about football. One the other hand, Messi is so damn perfect he makes it the game seem too easy. With him you'll know he'll skim 5 players and round the keeper 3 times before getting on his hands and knees to head the ball in.
