Below Haiti

A year that started with optimism about going to a major tournament has sent us crashing straight down to the tune of being embarrassed at the Euros, scraping through in Kazakhstan and being thrashed by the Germans at home- all the while slipping down 24 places in the FIFA rankings and even being below Haiti.

FIFA rankings are as accurate as an Arsenal striker

Well they still matter because they determine the pots in which we will be drawn therefore establishing the difficulty of opponents we may have to face in the future. It won't matter for the Euros because the expansion of the tournament means we should qualify anyway, but we cannot allow Trap to do any more lasting damage to our rankings that may make his successor's job even harder!

It's going to be 24 teams isn't it? I think that's about where you're ranked right now among European nations.

Please God my one wish for Irish football in 2013 is that its the year we finally see the back of Trappatoni! Gut rot of Irish football, certainly wont be stepping foot in Lansdowne until he's gone! Arrogant, incompetent, lazy, obnoxious, outdated, stale are only some of the words I can type about that charlatan of a manager. The sooner him and Tarbelly are gone the sooner we can move forward as nation!!
