The competitive SPL

I've been told how the SPL has been more competitive this year.
Celtic have now dropped 20 points in 20 games, and are still 6 points clear...don't look at the goal difference, its embarassing.

By competitive am I meant to understand that the standard is lower?

I doubt that the individual players are playing any better now than last year, so what is going on?
