Gareth Bale (Tom Daley's mate)

When he admitted that 'if there's contact, I'm entitled to go down (dive)' I wonder what aspiring professional footballers think about his encouragement to cheat !

He will be copied

Any contact, such as a shoulder charge, knocks players of their stride, but it's not an excuse to dive . . . . and most just get on with it ( like men )

Contact doesn't make it a foul, Bale dived which is why he got a booking for diving

If Bale dived on Saturday then why do players who fall over at their final third at the slightest touch to win a free kick not get booked too? And goalkeepers? Surely they could be deemed to go down easily and booked too

A shoulder charge is about strength. It has never been considered a foul.

When you are running and someone dangles a leg in front of you causing you to stumble (if not go down) it's a foul, full stop. You wil always get them outside the penalty area, but 9 out of 10 times, the ref won't give it inside the box, hence the player feels the need to go down. It's totally understandable.

Actually don't have a problem with Bale going down under contact but he needs to be better at it. It looks like a dive. His right knee was nudged, his left leg goes out from under him first and he dives forward when the contact was from the side.

I can understand why they go down in those situations. To book him for it was ridiculous.

Boy who cried wolf I'm afraid. He only has himself to blame

Yeah, that's fair enough. I'm not denying that Bale is a serial diver

He could earn so much respect if he didn't cheat, too
