THE best player in the world.

It was announced yesterday that Kevin Sinfield had been voted as the best player in the Rugby League World.
It would be interesting to hear the views of League supporters both on this side of the pond and our distant cousins on the other side of the world.
My views of Sinfield are as follows,he is a great Captain, goal kicker and tactical kicker.
But at International level he is someone who has been found out in is chosen posistion which is loose forward, this as meant that he has often moved to standoff. But this can be explained with there being a dearth of standoffs in the British game and also the need to have him in the team for his kicking game.
I was at Huddersfield for the cup semi and I must admit he kicked Wigan to death that day,he went on to do the same thing to other teams at the back end of the season.
But to say that he is a better player than Smith,Thurstan Inglis and Slater etc etc is pushing it a bit.

The Aussie press have gone to town on this, got to feel a bit sorry for Sinfield as this seems to have taken the gloss off his achievements.
He had a marvelous season, captaining Leeds to the World club championship, Grand Final success and Challenge cup final.
Taken as a season long award, I think it is well deserved.

This news has caused a bit of a stir down under.....mainly the press jumping on board and making a big deal of it.

A couple mates of mine said they can't pass judgement on whether Sinfield was better then Smith, because they haven't witnessed him play and asked me of an opinion.
I'm really not in the position to judge Sinfield either on the few occasions I've seen him play, but I was surprised to hear how he was voted a better player in 2012 then Cameron Smith......captained Melbourne to the NRL final win, captained Queensland to a state of origin victory over NSW and captained Aus. in beating N.Z in the test....playing a huge part in each of these victories.
On saying that, I'm not disappointed Sinfield won this award...

The press will say anything to cause a stir in the effort to sell papers, so if I was Sinfield, I'd be sticking my chest out with pride and his finger up to the press...

It would be interesting to ask each CEO whom they would purchase given a spare $6 - 700,000.....per season just the same.

I must say after reading some of the comments on some forums by Aussie's its the Aussie's who have taken over from the Brits as the champion whingers.

That's a bit harsh B-F......the gap between England and OZ in that dept. is "HUGE"...LOL.

B-F......I've got a few (po---) English mates and every time they have a whinge about something, I place a 5-cent coin on the table (local club)......they get so annoyed by it (in good fun).
I usually run out of money after a couple of hours and forced to cash it in for a beer. ....LOL
