Maynard!

I think we are all truely fed up with this going on and on, i think its bad on NM and City to let this get soooo close to season KO.

Do we think NM is waiting to see what (if any) the alledged last bid will be from LCFC? or is he waiting for a last ditch Prem bid?

Or is it that the get out clause on a new contract cannot be agreed, perhaps the price level or when he can go, Jan window/ end of season?

Over to you peeps.

I have said before, that he is holding the aces in this deal, he does not need to sign anything until the end of Aug and wait out.

I think his head has been turned and that is generally fatal for a player and more importantly the club. I am not sure why he would go to Leicester, yes they are a better bet fpr promotion than we are, however at City he is a big fish in a small pond, at Leicester I am not convinced he would automatically command a starting berth, and at 24 it should be about playing football not the size of the pay check if he wants to reach his possible potential.

If Leicester are really serious about wanting to buy Maynard, why do they not offer City what they need, a defender not a striker (Waghorn) a good size sum £3-4m and a 20% sell on clause, for me this would be an offer that the board would have to seriously consider.

After missing most of last season and the team did OK, I would suggest we need a defender or two much more than we need Nicky Maynard.

Just my opnion

I kind of agree with Supcon. if he is holding on for a prem club to come in then good luck.
You could say this is a similar situation to the basso fiasco a couple of seasons ago. An agent who is putting a player on a prem pedistool which the prem clubs are not seeing.

A question we could ask is he good enough for the prem????

God you're right,we don't want a Basso type fiasco with Nicky Maynard.

What with that and our lack of ability to sign even 1 class defender, what is up with our leadership,we can't sell,we can't buy and we can't get someone to sign the dotted line..

The times they are a changing......

Wizred you are correct.. we have made some regretable
signings in the past which keef has mention as has indeed many A606 members have. our squad is too big we need to off load. But long contract's to the wrong players are scuffering our buying power.
What i want to know is why we have about 10-12 players on the books who will never make the bench nevermind the first team.
If we got rid of the deadwood (which keef has more than admitted). then we could have a lot more clout with transfers. "My hands are tied" as keef has said on more than one occasion.

Agree Supcon have said the same thing before if a club really wants to make our manager and board listen they should be offering a class defender.

IMO we don't get rid of Nicky....yes we need a class defender, but not for sake of the class striker we have. It's his abiliy to score from anywhere that makes him special.....Will win you a game from nothing.....

Millen should have got his finger out ages ago regarding a defender......

If we lose the likes of Nicky, I can see us in serious trouble for the coming season.

Not serious trouble onefor, but I do agree that we should attempt to keep Nicky, and sign a defender as well.

As far as KM goes, he has been trying to recruit Premiership quality defenders, but those are wanted in the Premiership by the bottom half teams. We cannot offer Premiership football so what is KM supposed to do ?
This is why we no longer have Caulker.
We will have to be patient. We are on a result tightrope for a while, and I think we will be trying to outscore teams to win.
It would be really rather useful if:-
Hunt, Wilson, Ribiero, Fontaine or Nyatanga hit a rich vein of form at this point.
My money is on Nyatanga and Wilson (but I am keeping half an eye on Hunt)

'My money is on Nyatanga and Wilson (but I am keeping half an eye on Hunt)'

Keep your money in your pocket.
Carey will start in front of the 2 you mention.
And that just illustrates the Millen 'malaise'.
As for Hunt, the guy is useless and not worthy of further comment.

RP
There must have been a reason he was a Premiership player for six years +
That is why he will be a suspect for as long as he is on the payroll.
Although I admit, the sooner he is no longer on that payroll the better.
Unless he has an unlikely swansong his time here will be one he will want to forget, and so will we

Hunt
'There must have been a reason he'
Absolute mystery to me.
The guy is a drain on our budget.
As is :
Junior
'There must have been a reason he' - His Dad.
20 selected tomorrow and LJ's in Frome.
