"Scholes was amazing, a legend, but it means more opportunity, more space for me," Anderson told Sky Sports News.
"Scholes was one player where I learn a lot, he was unbelievable and for me the best midfielder in the world.
"I think Scholes was very important for the team as he had amazing quality, but I think everyone together can take his position."
He also briefly mentions his injury woes and how he feels (or hopes) that they are the thing of the past, and the Anderson of the latter stages of last season is the real Anderson.
I think he has been the most impressive central midfielder during pre-season. Hard running, tackling, dribbling and innovative passing. Carrick has been quietly effective, Cleverly a little overwhelmed in his first outing, Giggs has show flashes, Park was ok there.
Hopefully more to come from him.
Ando wants a chance...

i can't believe he has never had a pre season at united
.....................
And here in lies the problem with a lot of our fans. Lack of understanding the basics.
He has never had a preseason, and for the lasr two years he has had two very bad injuries.
And some of our idiot supporters slate the lad because he is not playing at Scholes level.
I have high hopes for Anderson this season. I have no doubt what so ever that he has the ability.

I'm unsure if he's ever going to make that big leap from promising talent to finished article, and his goal attempts are woeful, either daisycutters with no power or five yards wide hitting row z. There's definitely something there though because when he's on form he's a joy to watch.

far better players than Anderson have got by without being prolific in front of goal
By his own admission once he got into the groove last year he was amongst the goals anyway. The way United play CMs find it hard to get in amongst the goals generally anyway.
Hopefully he'll be alright. He has proven instrumental to our play during pre-season. The match he misses turned out to be our worst (in terms of performance). Not saying thats the only reason we weren't so fluid (there were a lot of kids in that team afterall).

Ah fcking great, in other words what Fergie was saying about combinations of midfielders rather than a new signing. Soooooper!

Anderson will be awesome this season.
He and Carrick formed a great partnership last season, unfortunately because Ando was never fully fit they could not be paired up that regularly.
Carrick has carried his form from last season and has been impressive over the preseason games.
A full pre-season for the two of them and they will be great together.

Fair comment but he seems to have missed so many good chances in front of goal, chances which you would expect a top midfielder to bury, i'm not ripping him but scoring goals in my opinion IS part of an attacking midfielders game.

Anderson is a disgrace. Even cricketers have to 'keep in shape' these days.
